I know a bit about futures but very little about stocks, so would appreciate some advice.
I'd like to experiment for a month by watching the time&sales for "in play" stocks (i.e. those that have prominent news stories pre-market), using ninjatrader platform, if possible.

I think SB's are pretty much for mugs though, that is true. I refer to the inherent bid/ask costs, excessive roll over costs and/or overnight financing.
