When you say "having courage to back it up with real money", are you referring to this call? We manage client accounts and the short trade was with live funds. We did exit early, however we do have certain rules to follow for the client trades. Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but the risk/reward...

We swing trade gasoline about once a week. It's definitely a market that can move fast and either make you quite a bit of money or lose in short amount of time. Not as liquid as crude oil, but trades about the same as heating oil. We don't do any spread trading.

Instead of ETF's you should trade the actual commodity or future. Currency futures are a great instrument in any market condition long term or short term.

Yep...you are right. But 1 year and $115k per contract later here we are. I still think we will not see $50 silver for over 5 years, if not longer.

OK...it's been over 1 year now, and Silver looks as bearish as it can get. Tripple bottom here at $26 area and it looks to be going to the $18 range soon :) Hope someone held a short from $49!!! I know I wish I did!

Tick charts are great to use for futures. You don't have to use 5 tick charts or anything crazy like that. You can use high time framed tick charts like 1,000 ticks, 2,000 tick charts. These will slow the pace down depending on the market and keep time out of the equation for trend trading...

Most professional traders of commodities and futures are technical traders. Not too many fundamentalists around. Check out the USDA website for information on press releases related to fundamental factors. Weather plays a huge role in most of them.
