Alot of jobs aimed at graduates want upwards to 24UCAS points. One I found wanted 28. I got a total of 12 UCAS points which has meant there are alot of jobs I dont meet the basic requirements, ie 2:1 and 22 UCAS points.
There are jobs out there that dont care about UCAS points but...
Although your final mark does count a 2:1 is generally acceptable for most positions.
A Level results and UCAS points are more important than you would imagine, if you have a first but rubbish A Levels you will still fall at the first hurdle.

Im currently in my final year at Uni. Not a top tier uni and yes that is a disadvantage. A first though is not neccessary, hardly any of the graduates ask for firsts.
He needs to go to uni though, if nothing else it is a growing up experience!

thanks bonsai, its for my third year dissertation. have been using current FTSE 100 but it doesnt fit my hypothesis, found that out only after i have completed all the calculations!

hz125. I am in a similar position to yourself. Not great A'levels and not at a "top tier" University.
I am having relative success though. There are lots of places that will talk to you and onvce your name is known you can go from there.
Ask friends family etc, you will be surprised who knows...
