bracke, I agree, this may play nicely into Bush's hands and if Bush is re-elected spur further bullishness into next year. barjon, I started using this name when the market was well into it's bear market in2002. My inability to shake the bear mentality in 2003, despite the Fste making a...

    FTSE 100 August 2004

Hi all, Several months since I last posted; also some time since I last visited according to the welcome message. The main reason is that I returned to FT work, so commuting into London each day and now I'm just swing-trading. This is considerably less stressful and enjoyable, much more...

    FTSE 100 February

FTse has been playing below it's lower bollinger band for a few days now. The BB is now pointing sharply down so provides little resistence. I'm still expecting a bounce any day, but am concerned about yesterday's spike, which if it does get filled, suggests a drop to about 4300 on the cash.

So will the market want to fill the spike? Often does, but unfortunately it's not reliable.

wish I'd shown the same mastery of inactivity. 2 entries and 2 losing exits. one of those days. BTW, the Dow & SnP both did precise 23% retracements to the late Nov lows yesterday. IMO, this increase the probablility that's it's a wave 4.

Good points Bonsai. I've taken most of my long off the table now - just left a small bet running in case it just keeps going!

I've held through this gap - just had a feeling it could have some decent upside today - backed by analysis if course :D

Thanks Mully, and well put. If appropriate, I'll try to back up a significant target I post so everyone can see the basis of my analysis.

In my opinion the market is based entirely upon opinion and it is the majority opinion that sways which way the market flows. I dont mean to cause offense Mully, and I hope you dont take it that way, but I like to use EW and price targetting based on fibs. It's part of my trading technique...

Morning all, Popping in again to catch up. Sold the house last week and have been busy (still am) finishing lots of urgent jobs before Mr surveyor comes round. I'd just stripped the bathroom as well, so now finishing the plumbing and tiling. Managing some trading, but the action hasn't...

I'm thinking the Ftse may break upward later today. The Dow/SnP seem to be in an impulsive wave up again and I expect th ftse to do the same. The waves look corrective off the high, which suggests a break up, at some point.

The markest seem poised for either a 3rd wave up or a C-wave down. I think there could be a big move on the retail data this afternoon at 1:30.

Excellent discussion on the market/currency prices. Some very good points - and a great chart Bonsai. Thanks to all of you.

I haven't been trading it either. Spent the last couple of days developing my trading analysis and techniques. Needs improvement for these times of narrow ranges. Of course we've seen a couple of decent moves in that time!

Bonsai, thanks. Hooya, you're right about b-waves, they can be very messy, unpredictable and generally difficult to count. Have you noticed how difficult it is to count the waves in the main indices since the lows in March 2003 or Oct 2002? That's a key reason I believe we're in a correction...
