Re: new systems on Natural Gas and possibly other futures I don't think there is more mystery to this than a trend

Re: situations with the systems I think you need to perhaps be careful in how you define systems. If you expect each one individually to be perfect you will have very few, and be able to invest limited capital. I think the "portfolio of systems" is the most important thing to take a bullet...

Re: the problem/limit of my automation on excel and of my brain It sounds easy but automated line drawing is not easy. Some things that make it tricky include: - do you use a log Y scale? - where does the line start exactly? - what if there is a brief dip through the line. Is it still valid...

If you believe this, then you should make these life changes (move to the coast etc) in order to be profitable i.e. first. If you can't do that, then you shouldn't trade at all! You're clearly a clever and capable guy, but not able to control strong desires. What you are talking about with life...

Isn't psychology the most important point? If you thought you were an awful investor, you would invest in a basket of funds, and probably average 10% / year over the last 13 years. But if you think you can do better, there has to be a reason. Unless money doesn't matter all that much, or is...

Or a far simpler reason: discretionary trading gives excitement which automated ones don't have. Makes you feel alive. Winning then doesn't matter, as the goal is to feel alive. If this is the case, there may be far cheaper ways to get kicks

Another, perhaps obvious point... If you are tampering with apparently excellent automated systems, there must be an underlying psychological reason why you don't wish to succeed. Perhaps you enjoy the struggle rather than risk losing this through success? There are perhaps many other reasons...

Re: automated trading update Small absolute return? Meaningless. As you know, the Sharpe ratio compares return to risk taken, which is defined by the smoothness and slope of the curve. This equity curve must have an enormous Sharpe. If you need higher absolute returns, you can just add...
