    probably between 6 to 8 per cent. ditto the uk.

    i see the opposite happening - rates around the world, especially uk, usa, australia, japan, doubling withing the next 5 yrs. rates have been held 'abnormally' (and artificially) low for nearly the last eight years. when rates rise, as they will, the economy will sink.

    i have had this happen to me on at least three occasions. i can't belive the ludicrous price some companies charge for them! what is also annoying is the fact that you get no indication that the problem points to a faulty microfilter - you just find you can't connect and try trial and error...

    is AntiVir (the free version) still as good as it used to be? i have heard reports that the new version has a horrible repetitive 'nag' screen and that the updates are no longer automatic. is this true? or would i be better of with the free version of avg? would appreciate people's views :)

    arbitrageur, thanks for that. i would appreciate other people's comments on Talktalk as an an isp - reliability etc. also as an either/or option anybody have experience with Homechoice as an isp? thanks.

    anybody have any 'sincere' views about talktalk broadband: all i've heard so far is bad, but as is often the case this drowns out the good news...i don't want to switch from my existing Onetel broadband (which is v.reliable), only to end up with a non-functional isp.. was just wondering whether...
