Fix This Forum

I have to hit the refresh button several times before I can get a page to load. It's been like this for nearly a week now

This happens when I'm in work and when I'm at home so I don't think the fault is at my end.

I hope you can get this fixed before Spannish comes back :cheesy:

Not had any problems at all. I'm using Firefox as my browser, are you using IE7?

I'm using IE6 in work and at home I'm using both IE6 and whatever version comes with Vista.

Seems alot better tonight although still hangs sometimes.

Try using FF for a while. If you don't like it you can always continue with IE6. I always use XP and Firefox and rarely have any problems. A friend of mine has Vista and she now uses Firefox as she had a few problems with IE. I couldn't help her technically with her IE problems so just suggested FF and she's never gone back.

I use Opera with Win XP.

Pretty much every other time I try to open a thread or go to an article or just move around the site it logs me out. I have to continually log back in if I want to post a reply. Very annoying.

Problem has only started in the last few days and I've not changed anything about my computer lately.

Cheers,

I now have the USB portable version of FF running from a flash drive so I can use it on any PC.

I'll see how it goes.

She's never gone back to you for advice?

The site really isn't optimised for IE6 anymore I have to say. It really isn't a very good browser, so you should update to IE7, Firefox 2 or 3, Safari or Opera. These browsers handle CSS much better than IE6 (which doesn't really handle CSS at all...) and as the site is heavily CSS-coded, well ... you get the idea.

As for logout issues - there were some a while back, usually fixed by checking the 'remember me' button. If there are still problems however please let us know.

The log out issue has only just started happening in the last couple of weeks for me.

I always check the remember me box but it doesn't seem to make much difference. Still just randomly logs me out now and then. Using when moving from one thread to another or one section to another.

As my passwords are all saved in Opera it's just a mouse click to log back in so I'm not really too bothered. Just thought I'd let you know.

Absolutely no problems with XPsp3, Firefox 3.0.1 and strict control of cookies, if that's of any diagnostic help.

This is really strange, and we can't think of what changes have been made that could affect this. We've made a modification to the cookie settings for the site, hopefully this will fix the problem. You may get logged out again and have to relogin. Please let me know if you continue to have problems.

Not sure how it works, but maybe its just your server providers? Speed drop off or, well I dont know how that side works, but perhaps its technical issues beyond your control ? Unless you need more width ? (bandwidth? is that what governs it ?)

Mine has been ok last couple of days, but i do still get a pause when flicking between posts etc? Not increased traffic issues is it ? something like that ?

There you are!

I haven't noticed you around for a while.

Can you get rid of an irritating notification advice that won't go away, please?

Someone wanted to be a friend. Personally, I think that that is a daft addition to our cp page and these "extras" have more bug potential than they are worth. Now, whether I want him or not, his notification that he is waiting for me every time I come on to the site is a nuisance. I know who my friends are and you can demobilise the "friends" section on my cp permanently if that helps.

With thanks.

I haven't been logged out yet today but I'm usually lucky if I get through a day without beng kicked off at least a couple of times :D I know, yes good riddance I hear

I think simply declining the request does the trick Split, although I haven't had one for ages so can't remember

Just looked at your profile and "friends" looks like it has been deactivated now.

Hi, yes I'm here - just not had much time on the forums lately, hope to be more active again soon though. As LM suggests can you try simply declining the invitation?
