UK Opposition Leader:Big Believer In Active Monetary Policy
LONDON (Dow Jones)--U.K. opposition Conservative party leader David Cameron said Tuesday he supports the current active monetary policy, adding that decisions on quantitative easing must be left up to the Bank of England.
"I am a great believer" in an active monetary policy, Cameron said, adding that he is also a strong supporter of Bank of England independence.
At his monthly press conference, Cameron said the decision on whether to extend quantitative easing must be left to the BOE's Monetary Policy Committee to decide.
He also said that he liked marshmallows, as well as rich tea biscuits, and that his favourite confection is Rowntree's Fruit Gums. "A British sweet incorporating British values!". His favourite spoons are made in Sheffield.
