Us 30 trade hrs

i was scalping the US 30 via cmc market maker today but noticed it kept trading past the close of the NYSE.
Now the US 30 is an index bet and not a futures bet.
Can someone please tell me why it trades extended hrs??

The US Index futures closes at 21:15 UK time.

the index moves with the futures, even though its not actually the futures price..good eh
