As an exercise in site housekeeping we have prepared new guidelines for posting on the forums and the use of the private messaging service. These can be viewed via the FAQ link on the Community menu above or directly from this link:
Trade2Win Site Guidelines
Most of the rules are simple common sense which are followed by the vast majority of posters anyway. However, there are a few thorny issues that crop up from time to time and the new rules should help resolve any confusion. Specifically, those issues which seem to cause most misunderstanding are:
1. Multiple Accounts
Members have been known to register more than one account for dubious purposes, such as spamming products or services. If we become aware of such activity the offending member is likely to be banned.
2. Advertising
So that members may enjoy the forums free from sales pressure, T2W does not allow advertising of any kind either on the boards or through the private messaging facility. Although we are an advertising supported site, advertisers have no editorial influence on the forums. If you do have a product to sell and would like to bring it to the attention of the T2W membership, please contact [email protected] to discuss your requirements.
If you are unsure what constitutes advertising, please refer to the actual site guidelines.
3. Members’ Signatures
Signatures should not be used for advertising purposes. Please check the guidelines if you believe your signature may breach this rule. There are a number of members who include URLs/links in their signature and we would ask that these be phased out over the next week or so. Any signatures which don’t meet the requirements after Friday 1st October will be edited by the moderators.
4. Vendors’ Conduct
As part of our non-advertising policy described above, vendors should not start threads specifically for the purpose of drawing attention to their product or service. We do, however, encourage participation on the forums by representatives of trading related companies responding to members’ postings. Vendors who are on the site principally for this purpose may state their commercial identity (such as company name and job description) but in accordance with our signature rules, links are not permitted.
