Hi Francis,

jim - what logs do you want? im not running the tick stuff into my db atm...

I was rather hoping you might at least have been running my GuruLogger indicator by now. As luck would have it I was running tick stuff into my DB at the time in question. Does the following help explain your problem at all? Note that I haven't tried trading the DAX today myself.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Francis,

The bid that SLM were quoting me went straight from 5714 to 5712. What price would you expect to get filled at?

Have you ever tried trading index futures?

Cheers,

Jim

5713.5 where my stop had been for 16 minutes.

ive been spreadbetting for 5 years. I dont get this slippage on the london capital groups platforms.

As I said.

Forex on SLM changed and so did the slippage - why is the DAX slipping when most other spreadbet vendors can manage to fill at the correct price?

I got exactly the same email from SLM when forex slipped saying go elsewhere - can they pull the DAX around?

If that's what's most important to you, then I suggest you go and trade on LCG's platform.

Of course SLM can't "pull the DAX around". They can however quote you whatever they choose, since at the end of the day there is no such thing as "the correct price". Here's what the DAX futures were doing at the time in question. Does that help at all?

Cheers,

Jim

no, i dont know what you are trying to show or trying to say?

cash market? tick? 7 milliseconds?

slipped full stop on spreadbetting. I wont be bull****ted into some fanciful myth on how **** apparently works.

its utter toss. its a bunch of wide boys in suits.

the real clever spods dont work for any of this lot.

i know. ive worked in the "city".

until people get it into their heads its just sales then we cannot move forward.

please stop trying to make it something its not.

well 8.32am and FTSE feed now open on SLM....WTF !?! - Barclays is open and Gapped up so why is FTSE not open ???

Reuters feed from the exchange down...they are "working on it"....thing is how come individual stock prices are Live ?!?! I will be watching these guys like a hawk now

The chart of the ftse stopped moving at 3:30 when the ism number was released, one large gap of about 50 points. Terrible day for slm.

These guys are playing games.

I was trying to close a USD/JPY long, admittedly through a stupid knee-jerk reaction to the jobs data today. The point is, the price wasn't showing very much movement at all because the BoJ is in there, I believe, manipulating the thing.

So, the price is up a few pips, down a few pips from second to second, no more than that. This is approx 10 mins after the news was released. I enabled 5 pips deviation but got at least 30 'invalid' prices before giving up.

I'm still in the trade now, I never should have tried to cancel it in the first place so I'm happy about that, but thought I would post my experience because with so little price movement it makes absolutely no sense at all.

can anyone on a spreadbetting vendor mt4 or not post their charts of 3.30 yesterday?

we can compare.

who is going to come and argue with me this time?

you are better off putting your genitals in a cheese slicer and having gandolf come and blow you off when you are done than use this as an excuse for an expensive gambling habit.

at least have fun whilst doing it - go to a casino - enjoy the women and booze.

this is the preserve of wide boys getting "spangled" in corney & barrows thinking they are living the life.

I do sympathise with all you guys having problems with this company. It's about time all these SB companies were subjected to a full investigation and audit by one of the UK gov's agencies. Any evidence of malpractice and their bookmaker's licence should be revoked.

No UK bookmaker, taking sporting bets only, would be allowed to get away with the type of fraud that some of these SB Cos engage in. Quite frankly, it's a disgrace.

I just love a nice gentlemanly "argument"! With all due respect, what does comparing those charts with anyone else's prove? Are they bids, asks, mids, lasts? Whatever the charts purport to show, it proves sweet FA about how much "slippage" you might have suffered if you'd actually been attempting to trade at the time.

Cheers,

Jim

In cases like this I actually have quite a lot of sympathy for SLM. Whatever you're trying to trade, 'real' market or speadbet, you'll have problems when news is released. The only solution is to close things before the inevitable happens.
