Margin Call - The Movie

I asked the tech guys today and also did a bit of research myself. Basically there's no security risk from linking an image as a .php script, no more than linking to .gif or .jpg image. The information that an html <img> tag collects, are things like the number of times that page is viewed, the ip address of the person viewing, their browser, that type of thing. But you get that information any time an image is hosted on your server, just as if you display an image via a script. Actually it's not uncommon to generate images on the fly using a script rather than a standard .gif or .jpg, that's how people show those little counters that might say what your stats are on a game site are. So say for example, you used your avatar image from T2W, on another site, but link to our site to display it then we'd be able to delve into the server logs and find out when and where it was viewed, but could do nothing more than that.

that's the point, we're not supposed to see it, as it's low down dirty spam, i advised how to see it in a reported post a while back.

regarding zutou, an easy example of seeing it would be to search zutou's posts, you can't see any links in his board posts, but you can see the link when you search his posts

Just joined purely to say thanks (y)

We have zutou on our forum, now I know why he ignored my PM's :(

He keeps posts borderline non spammy, and I've been trying to work out what the hidden xxxx/g.php was all about!

Right, time to do some deleting!

Thanks again!

thanks for the explanation sharky, i'm a bit confused though, as they weren't images. the links may have been portrayed as such in the way they were presented, but they are definatly links.

www.do8.me/ms.jpg

reads like an image but in fact is an ad, click it and you get

www.exness.com/

www.imgquick.com/images/38.gif

reads like an image but in fact is an ad, click it and you'll get

Groupon Deals

and so it gooes on with the rest of this strange spam, though it wasn't clickable or really apparent it was even there.

but there's been no more since mods deleted, it's been stopped dead in it's tracks.

LM,

He was banned but for some reason, (probably technical) it didn't initially work but it is effective now. We have had a few issues like this recently which may be as a result of the upgrade.

Yeah I know what you mean, and that's the thing, a url that looks like a link can return an image, just as a url that looks like an image can act like a link. Either can be set up as an image or a link. The important thing though is that in both cases you can't do anything nasty. It's confusing for sure, and I don't why you'd do want to do it.

I got the disk and watched it on blue ray.. unimpressed. looks like cheap propaganda movie - like dying chidlren in africa. neither stuff is real... the only accurate information is the few minutes of raw footage from a pit.

I watched it on demand and was glad I didnt shell out 25 buck to take the wife and I to the theater to see it. Floored was much better and its streaming on netflix

sorry. should have said that. i was talking abt Floored. didnt watch the margin call.

I had high hopes for this movie,
refreshing with a trading kind of movie for once,
but afterwards I really think it was a poor movie :)

I quite liked this film ("Margin Call"). Considering the low budget it's amazing they got the cast they did. There's not really much trading related in it, they just toss in the occasional jargon word. It's difficult to maintain the suspense throughout the film for such a subject, I though it sagged a bit towards the end. I would give it 7/10.

I enjoyed this film too, didnt go in expecting much as i knew it was made on a very low budget.
I liked it more than the second wallstreet film which covered the same crisis.

7.5 out of ten.
