Sticky Introduce Yourself

Totally New

Hi there
My name is Lyn and I'm totally new to reading chart. I need somebody out there to tell me which is a good book to start and where I can learn for free.

I'm tired of working for others and now trying to break free as bosses grow rich I get no way.

Thanks

Good luck LynLim!!

Hello Lyn,

Good luck with your new adventure! Hope it's a profitable one.

Before you start, you should ask yourself:

-What markets are you interested in trading in? (better start simple).
-How much of your capital can you risk to begin?
-What type of trader do you want to be? (day-trader, long-term, etc.)

If you answer these simple questions, then you'll find your book.

In the meantime, download a free platform (like Metatrader from any broker), to get a first feel of how an actual price move is. The best school is to see the markets in REAL-TIME, as reality is very different from reading books.

Feel free to ask, if you get stuck!!

Hello Everybody,

I am Pradeep from India and I am currently doing a PHD on European Capital Markets. I have selected the Nordic markets (Sweden, Finland & Iceland) as my area of specialisation. I can contribute to the forum by helping people to know about the Indian Markets. India is one of the BRIC Economies, one of the fastest growing emerging countries in the world with a GDP growth rate in double digits. I would request anybody & everybody to help me understand about the Nordic region Capital Market.

Regards,
Pradeep

A new member.
Have been in the investment business for more than 30 years but know almost nothing about trading. Trying to read and learn and how to use a simulator to find out how the futures market operates.
I enjoy the posts and expect to learn quite a bit.

I believe that once you know what you're doing in terms of trading strategy and money management, trading becomes a case of -

Damn! that sh** was just too easy!!!

Unfortunately, it will probably take a good few years for the average newbie to get to that stage, if they get their at all.

I hope to get from T2W, a 1st class understanding of the information technology that can maintain and enhance my trading environ. I am a technology geek wannabee.

Hai , I am Ken Kissaki, from SE Asia. I (was) a Gann Trader on forex, then turn on Autotrade with MT4. Now I am interested to learn more about Options Trading on ETF, Commodities and Forex.
I am going back to my classic Tech Analysis for Options Trading Analysis. (I might be wrong), but I miss calculating some magic number with Gann...

I'm Preston

I dont know anything about trading or stocks or any of this stuff. But I do have a library card! So I plan to learn. I was bored one afternoon while recovering from surgery and I started playing a virtual exchange on marketwatch and had so much fun I thought I would try to learn more.
So here I am :)

Hi, I'm John

I from NYC! Been around markets and trading for quiet some time. Once trading gets in your blood you can't get it out! And why would you. Best of luck to the newbies we all paid our "dues" in the beginnning.

Here's a test....take $10,000 out of your bank/401k/IRA/CD etc...get in cash, go outside, throw it up in the air. IF YOU Can walk away and say to yourself, that sucked, and not worry about it, YOU'RE ready, LOLOLOLOLOL Think of it as tuition.LOLOL

Hello,

I'm not sure how this forum works, but i am sure I can figure it out eventually.Just wanted to introduce myself and explain a little about why I'm here
I have been trading, off and on various types of markets with basically no success in the end for about 5 years. However I have decided to do all I can to educate myself more and become a professional trader. I like the markets and I want to learn as much as i can about the industry.

I am hoping to meet some successful traders here that won't mine sharing their experience and helping others learn. I have learned a lot of systems, used software etc.. but I think I'm going about it all wrong somehow. I am determined to figure this out for my self and thought learning from some other like mined people would help. Well that's it in a nutshell, I am looking forward to going through some of the various posts and articles see you around..

Thanks for reading have a great trading day!

new

I'm new. I've signed up for a forex webinar for next week. How long is the learning curve for a fairly smart gal? They have a practice platform and I wonder if you can get a feel for it through doing that. I've been trading stocks on Scottrade for a year and done well despite the market , but STILL would like to do even better. I'm unemployed and would like to keep myself afloat till the right job comes, so need to make more profits and do it wisely. How is everybody doing? IS it better to have someone do the picks or study all the details for a few hours a day and make your own decisions?

Hi J,

Yikes, 10,000! I'm not emotional about stocks and have been doing that for a year and have done fairly well. However, must be a big learning curve with forex to have to go through that much just to get it down pat. I haven't done the practice platforms. Maybe if I sign up with some different platforms, I can get the hang of it . I know what you mean though, you do have to cut your teeth somehow and you learn in the mistakes. Any suggestions you could give me would be appreciated. I'm signed up for a webinar class and have got to learn all the lingo. I'm already hooked on the stock market, but this looks even more volatile with larger possible gains.
