Sticky Introduce Yourself

Traded equities some years ago. Currently plan to trade emini index futures. Have been paper trading for couple months. Looking for appropriate site to go live.

Hi Guys,

I like travelling, partying, fast cars, fast women..... well the travelling bit is true. Been at this game on & off for 10 years, lost my shirt in the internet bubble (bloody telewest, boltimore...). Now looking to "do it right"! Using Sharescope & Omnitrader toolset, both are very good.

I'm looking for a cost effective way to trade the US Market. Spreadbetting spreads are too wide, ( using finspread which is great for UK). CFDs not sure which company.

What are you guys using to trade long & short the US Markets?

Cheers
BK

Hi,

I stumbled upon the site by accident and noticed some interesting artcles and discussions.

Last 15 months been working in the city doing equity trade support but keen on FOREX trading, specifically EUR/USD. I have been paper trading for 3 months and my short-term goal is to devise a basic strategy

Any short/long-term opinions on EUR/USD and general info on devising trading strategies would be very much appreciated

Cheers

Hello everybody.
I'm OTC, I'm 37 years old, I'm happily married and live in northern Italy. I decided to join this forum to learn about trading and technical analysis. I'm developing (in my spare time) a trading system for myself. Although I've not much experience in trading, I have a strong background in industrial C/C++ development (mainly in heuristic optimization techniques and numerical analysis problems) applied to other fields, so I'my tying to apply it to a mechanical trading system.
I hope to deepen my knowledge of trading and techincal analysis thorugh t2w, I'n I'll be glad to give advice in fileds in which I have experience.

Thank you
OTC

Commodities are like horses...If you know little about 'em they can be dangerous at both ends and uncomfortable in the middle. If you decide to trade know that you can be in serious danger of losing all your money, your house, your car and all those related to you by blood or marriage. Now that I have introduced the risk in this business, it can also be very rewarding. So learn all you can and develope your trading plan. May you have great trades.

Hello everyone,

I am by no means a seasoned trader unlike most of you on this site. I am just starting out. I work as a mortgage adviser in London but as you can well imagine the subprime crisis has hit and the business is just not there at the moment. I will be attending my first seminar next week also just for the extra education/base knowledge I will be doing the sii's derivatives exam in a few months time as I would rather develop my own understanding/strategies from accurate base knowledge and not leave anything to assumption(s)?

Anyhow I just wanted to say hello and to introduce myself but if anyone has any comments please feel free....Thanks NRI

my suggestion to you would be to put all those books aside and read in the first instance "Mastering the Trade" by John F Carter.

Once you have digested that, more so the psychological aspects than the trade triggers, then read Mark Douglas's "Trading in the Zone".

Then go back and re-read Carter.

Then burn all the other books you've bought :)

and as for seminars, (unless you attend the one or two run by successful traders from within the T2W community), you'll find the majority of seminars are absolute waste of time at best, rip-off at worst, bull**** sessions full of crap.

good luck, hope it helps ......

Thanks for the advice

If you are a good scientist - ie you look at facts logically, draw conclusions based on evidence, always willing to challenge your own & other's thoughths and always seek knowledge, then you have a solid foundation on which to build a trading lifestyle. I'm sure Mr Spock should really have been a trader & not wasting his time roaming the galaxies!

Never forget your scientific principles - they will stand you in good stead. Best wishes & good luck (btw - don't need the luck if you trade well!). :)

Cheers :)

Hi Everyone

Hi All,

I am a new member.

I have gone thru some of the posts and found very interesting and useful information. I am glad I have joined T2W.

I am used to Tech Analysis and have used that for some short term investment gains, I am now planning to Day Trade , so I will be posting some rookie questions (of course not here, may be in First -Steps".

Regards

Bob

Hello everyone

My 1st post here. I really like the layout and vast content on this site.

I not only came here to learn and participate, but to make it known to anyone seeking a spreadsheet to track their trading business - I may have what their looking for.

What I have developed is a very unique tool called the "Trading Management Spreadsheet". I've coined the term "Spread`Suite", as there are 7-different sheets that help keep the trader on track to managing their trading business & performance.

Prosperous trading to you,

Hi all,

Thanks for the site. I've read through a range of topics over the last hour and find them very informative and good humoured.

I am a complete novice to this game - I have read a couple of books and understand some of the theory but have yet to put any of it into action, other than a few demo sites.

My interest initially lies in Forex. Can someone please advise on what spread betting companies are best for a novice / forex trading.

Thanks.

I would like to introduce you to betonmarkets.com. It is a website that offers you the possibility to bet on the movement of the markets.

eg you can bet that USD/GBP will trade through 1.98 in the next 1,5,6,7 etc..

BTW may I suggest that you also open a virtual account to try out your strategies :smart:

Good luck ;)
