Hello all !

Newbie on this forum, and a newbie trader !

Work at a major brokerage firm as a programmer, building trading platform for the firm !

Feels weird .. Almost like the maker of slot machine entering a casino to actually gamble for himself !! :p

Was building an options trading platform, and now have started working a bit more on the stock side ..

My goals -
- For next year or so, generate some side income while working as programmer.
- I don't know what type of strategy I should include myself in ... I was thinking about putting one trade a week, get in on week start, and get out by weekend .. But then I don't know .. I could have a busy week, and it could become a bit high maintenance for me .. I am not too sure ..
- I understand options trading very well, all the dimensions around it, volatility, greeks etc. But I mostly struggle around setting my target price .. As long as I play safe, give my trade enough time to develop, I usually end up profitable ... But it feels a bit more like gamble because I take the time-constraint off my shoulders. I think if I had that constraint, I would loose lot more frequently ... But then is there anything like safe trading ? !!!!

I guess I will stop my mindless ramble and read more here !

Cheers all !

Hey Everyone, I just recently signed up to this site.....I've seen posts on here for years while searching topics on Google and just decided to join. I'm an active Day Trader, while I work full time...in my Office, my work is project oriented, so I can spend a fair amount of time trading during the day and continue my work at night or weekends. I've been trading for almost three years...trading Futures and Forex mainly. My focus is scalping, for the moment. I've had some success, but I mainly just break even over the long term. I'm looking for improvements on Day Trading and Scalping methods and perspectives. I'm very familiar with trading Forex, Grains, Energies, Bonds/Treasuries/Interest Rates, Softs, Metals and Stock Indexes.

Hi,
I live in New Jerey and I've been trading just a few months with Mark Eric. I have Multiple Sclerosis so I'm not able to work. I am intrigued by the market and its potentials, so I decided to try my hand at it. It's not a hobbie but it is fun.

I would like to learn to do this better and I'm not getting there on my own, hence the reason I'm here.

Hey M

welcome to the world of Trading.....there are a lot of sharks swimming in this world but also a lot of good people trying to help others to make a small honest bucks

you will take knocks but who doesnt .....this is not little league, you've just walked out into the collusseum

good luck and yes we will be working together I hope along your way :smart:

Hi: I'm New!

Hi,

I'm Bob from Bath. I've given up consulting and I'd really like to try my hand at day trading. 2 years ago I was given a tip for a share which I purchased and made a profit in 3 hours equivalent to one months consultancy fees which excited me.. until I had to pay the tax bill.

In the next 2 years I'll be moving to Asia so would like to be in a position where I can earn a reasonable wage day trading. Trouble is, haven't a clue where to start... so I've decided to go through the help pages on the forum.

If there are any experienced traders out there who would like to impart some valuable knowledge, tips & tricks then I'm "all-ears"!

Thanks

Bob:)

Hello i have 5 years trading experience in forex. I am looking to migrate to United Kingdom. Any trader from UK that i can make friend with?

Hello All!

I'm a rookie trader, I started trading forex about a year and some ago. Of course I'm always looking for some guidance and new ideas...this is what we're here for after all, right? :) I've been glancing through the forums and there's a lot of material that needs to be read and digested! Hopefully one day I'll be able to post some things that are useful!

I wish all the best in trading and that we all achieve a six digit account at one point of our lives!

Hi all. I’m a retired guy who has spent the last 16 months trying to hone my trading skills and build up the courage to jump in. Up until now, I couldn’t find much help on the web. I’m looking forward to exploring the resources here.
My hope is to successfully trade US futures, both currencies and agricultural products. To limit draw downs, I’ll probably stick to day and swing trades as my starting account isn’t large.
I’m fascinated with Elliot wave concepts but have no interest in identifying and numbering each and every turn of the market. I have had much better luck, at least on paper, trading 1 hour (or shorter) impulse waves and staying out of correction waves. Fibonacci ratios have also been an eye opener for me as well. I’m still working out the wrinkles in my trading methodology but hope to pull the trigger soon.
Cheers,
Al
