how to make sense of 'latest trades' info

It will be number of shares.

The different figures will be becasue yahoo is delayed by 15? minutes but the other source may be delayed by 1hr or 24hrs etc

yahoo finance, im checking end of day figs, when the markets closed.
So they are correct by yahoo standards.
Yahoo Volume fig on the first page of a companys data, has GOT to be number of trades, not REAL shares volume. Because latest trades info on yahoo page EXCEEDS the Volume fig.

ALL of my sources(websites), are delayed, either by 15mins, or more.

How can the number of trades exceed number of shares traded?

Each trade must be of at least 1 share so number of share traded must be =/> number of trades.

What's the stock?

Just looked at BLT and it says VOLUME 761340...this is number of shares.

for example
TNI
yahoo says: 15,714 volume

And other websites say
626,313 Volume

626,313 Volume (another site also)

no you misunderstood, i said the number of trades cannot exceed volume of shares, as yahoo indicates. eg comparing Volume figure to Latest trades data.

You're right, my apologies, Yahoo's wrong

626k traded but that's not number of trades as well, it says 226 trades

yeah, yahoo agrees with other sites with some companies, but some companys, its jsut way off.

So shall i NOT use Yahoo finance Volume figures?
Yahoo have % gainers and % losers and Volume lists, and they tend to be accurate.

Selftrade have told me their having trouble too with their data feed.

Recommend any sites for double checking volume info? (predominantly UK stocks)

where did you get the 226 trades info?

At the moment i've got PROQOUTE which is the LSE own level2 system, but it's not worth getting it just for the volume.

Check the LSE website it may give volume. or try something like bloomberg or reuters?
