Try this first.
Export your favourites.
Uninstall ff (3.01 i assume).
Delete the firefox directories (program files + the data files (different places for different os's ... search for all occurrences of firefox with system files included)
Reinstall firefox freshly
Import the favourites you just exported
Install no addons .... is it working fine now?
Then add them back.
I've run ff3.01 on windows xp, windows vista sp1 and windows server 2008 with zero problems ... so a clean install will probably fix things.
