It is NOT a copy cat protest if people have a genuine urge to ply for freedom in their own governed country.

In what way are those who are protesting in other middle east countries different from those who are protesting in Egypt ?

Because they have very different levels of governance and the protestors are requesting different things. For example, in Algeria they are not particularly looking to tear out monarchy altogether - they are looking to form a Constitutional Monarchy (Bramble will need to Wikipedia what that means), others look for freedoms such as speech, end of corruption and multi-ethnic government.

I think to group the protests together, whilst I agree they are all shows of discontent, is disrespectful to their individual quests in their countries. If they were the United States of Africa and they all were rebelling against the same thing I would accept the term copy cat.

Also keep in mind the level of civilised progress these countries are at:

Egypt has many civil institutions already where as Libya has barely any Civic buildings.
