Heres a little reminiscing using a weekly chart....on a 20ma default setting and Dow on the 20 sma as well ......

Everyone is talking about the demise of the Yen .....the Japanese economy has been in the Doldrums since the early 1990's ....but boyoboy has the newly elected crew been trying to stir things up .......the Nikkei has been volatile as well as the BOJ embarks on a Printfest of the Yen ......

see whats happened on the chart ?........jees what a call if you shorted yen from middle of last year on a weekly basis ........thats mega mambo in your pocket and well deserved .....the yen has really really fallen over ther last 2 quarters and is still falling.....

but for how long ?

answer ?

I dont know and frankly I dont care ......friends we are here to trade.......not pontificate on Economic trends, or GeoPolitical scenarios or indeed Global Financial hypotheses....

We are here to trade

so pick a system, pick a timeframe and trade what you see ..........unless you are getting paid to spout garbage (as some people are lucky to do) then stop forecasting and start trading !

end of story ....

You know, I've never even yet posted here but I was looking for discussions and strategies about trading with correlations as being an indicator... All I can say is "Good on you NVP for your trading idea and your dedication to have written in here for so long!" :)

I got into Correlation/Relative Strength as a strategy for trading currencies in the early 2000's after taking a couple of years out of Trading due to heavy Work/Family comittments.......

Compared to my Trading antics in the 80's and 90's its certainly more consistent, satisfying and profitable.....:smart:

Left chart = 4hr 20ma delta 3
Right chart = 15m 20ma delta1 (default)

hey all ....

well the Dow is still trying to get higher after a late run up on friday night...........a little consolidation overnight but peanuts really and we need to see if that recent high gets challenged over the next few hours or so into US open.....

the left 4hr tells me that the Yen is gradually converging back upwards after a recent hit.....so Technically I would advise people to ease off on the sells in lower TF's.......but I see it below the Zero overnight on the right (15m) chart against a softenting dow so the indications are that if Dow moved north again we should be selling Yen (and perhaps USD) this morning back into the recent 4hr trend

GBP was under pressure last week and given the generally poor press over the weekend in all business papers and its relatively weak Economic plight presently it could continue to underperform for next few weeks.......but remember what i always say ****

mondays are always a tough day as we Ideally need to see the first opening shots from the USA's camp before more clarity sets in .......

I will stay out probably until London PM.....or until I get a screamer of a Dow move putting us to those support/resistance levels seen on the 15m chart for the Dow

check the Economic releases as well for clues ......

later

**** Trade what you see .......Rumour talks but only charts walk !

Then again having said that I will closely watch that potential run up of the Dow as the 100% Pure signal on the 15m TF is buy GBP sell USD and yen.....

welcome to trading !

Do you have any written documentation of your strategy which you care to share? I only trade Forex but it would be great to make analysis of how your trading system works. Another thing I am seriously interested in is COT analysis. I don't know if you've looked into this. It is good info to see what the Big Dogs are doing with their money.

hmmmmm

The divorce of USD and Yen on that big Dow move would put anyone in a quandary..and GBP got hit hard as well in the carnage.....

lets see now what happens as the Dow challenges the recent high.....and if one cannot understand the market dynamics or see something that is consistent with a profitable pattern....then one should stay out of the market :smart:

hmmm - only the Word doc in the signature area and the information thread itself here at T2W........

FXCorrelator.com (my website) has some virus issues thanks to the service providers trying to blackmail me currently (long story) and I did run a VIP course last year for 6 months that I will probably not do again due to time pressures .....and in truth the fee I would have to charge to make it really worthwhile to me would price me out of any takers......

I dont get to fussed about the COT........everything I need is in the Price..... .warts and all but fair play to anyone using it (y)

Ok, no prob. I'll check what you said and check it out more intensely. No worries about the training, I was looking at this as being complementary. I got a small arsenal of things that work for me.

Again, I appreciate your commitment to this site and thread!

Cheers!
