city index trading academy

I think the whole contest has been tongue in cheek.

It's (non dma) spread betting, its entertainment like going to a casino or betting on the horses.

For most people spread betting is a amateur hobby with a dream of riches attached, like playing the lottery.

this is probably not the last we will see of this kind of approach to advertising services ......

sadly the masses have now embraced the endless drivel on TV and require all products force fed in that format to even consider interest ......

X-factor, "Fire me or get me out of here i'm an icestating, bug eating, Essex living, -40 degrees below Zero enduring, celebrity Z lister"

you have all been warned ......!

The forex factor is sure to be along soon.

great title Flash (y)!!!

all joking aside ........I know that cowell is trialling the x-factor brand in other areas like new startups for Web Techies and entrepreneurs.......so its only a matter of time

So no one wants to discuss my win then, even after all the comments that were made during the competition (which i enjoyed by the way but was not allowed to post) - its a shame really.

Merry Xmas

how did you find out about the competition?
What have you done with your winnings?
And well done. You were clearly the best of the bunch

Thank you i read lots of websites and saw it advertised somewhere I still can't remember which one if I'm honest and I thought why not.

I have not done much with the money, put some into my house and have gave some to family and will be looking to start trading again in the new year, I'm stil working my notice and my last days on Monday, pretty boring so far.

Thanks again

Hi John,
Many congratulations on your win! It's generous of you to share some of it with your family and putting some of it into your house sounds like a wise move to me.

Are you quitting your job in order to trade full time? If so, may I ask what market(s) you'll be trading and what your objectives are?
Cheers,
Tim.

Thank you Tim

Putting some money into my mortgage was a no brainer really, the money is still there if i need it and of course giving my siblings and parents some cash is something im more than happy to do.

Regarding my job i'm currently working my notice and my last day is xmas eve, it will be a sad day as i have been here for 6 and a half years and they fully supported me during the competition.

I'm currently doing the knowledge to become a london black cab driver so the win allows me to now do this full time starting in the new year which should hopefully enable me to complete it a little quicker and in respects to trading i will be doing this along side my knowledge studies and once im a qualified black cabbie, i will be investing in UK and US equities and trading the DAX, FTSE and the DOW.

I have done a couple of interviews and I will also be on CNBC tomorrow morning at 09:30 for a chat about my win and the competition in general.

Kind Regards

John

Hi John,
I'm relieved to read your last post. I thought perhaps the win might have gone to your head a bit and you thought you had the midas touch and could trade full time and repeat the success of the comp in real life so to speak. I'm delighted my fears are unfounded. And good on you for getting the 'knowledge' to become a London cabbie - although that would be my worst nightmare! (I'm not keen on driving and hate driving in cities!) It sounds like a good plan and best of luck with your trading when you get back into it.
Tim.
PS - Once you've done the CNBC interview - put up a link to it on here if you would please (assuming it's available on YouTube or somewhere).
