CFD prices vs underlying

I am new to CFDs. I want to know how closely CFD prices follow the actual underlying prices. If they are not exact, what is the cause of the difference, and is there a place to get historical CFD data?

Depends which broker and which product. If you're looking at stocks, apart from CMC most brokers will provide you with identical prices to the real market. This is particularly true of anyone offering Direct Market Access (GNI, IG Markets) - your trade is executed in the real market. Any historical data should be what you need therefore.

No stamp duty and increased margin - if you want it - are the main reasons. Like neil suggests, do a search for an in depth answer.
