Biogen [biib] And Elan [eln]

They have dropped because their prices were at those lofty levels due to unwarranted and unjustified hope that one or more of their drugs would turn out to be blockbusters. Most of the holders were gambling on POTENTIAL as opposed to ACTUAL and when those illusions are shattered the inevitable sell off takes place. Why should they have higher valuations than the established Majors? The whole drug sector is in turmoil and investors have lost billions in the process.

The Calls might well seem cheap but if the share prices drop any further, they will become even 'cheaper' which means that in real terms, they will be so far out of the money that they are worse than backing a rank outsider in the Grand National.

The failed drug is banned for a short period. It may come back on soon! the patients want it back. For this reason its worth buying some CALLS. But dont put all ur dosh on it. Read the forum on those links you may find them interesting and change ur mind. :rolleyes:

Aspirins and other drugs on the market also kill a small % of people do we ban these drugs also? [what about cigs?] At the end of the day the patients want the "T DRUG" back on the market! it does not matter if ONLY 2 patients died! the margority of sufferrs want it back!!! thats what counts my friend. The majority RULE :!: :cheesy:

Buy far out ATM or OTM CALLS with money u can afford to lose, dont put ur shirt on it or ur house :LOL:

I have no doubt that the shares may well soar at any given time in the future but, it is a question of when. The worst thing would be for the shares to double the week after my options expire worthless.

Infact its the JAN 06 CALLS and not the Dec's [sorry about that mate] i will edit my previous post to show JAN 06 ATM CALL's.

Next week, next month, is the future :!: the bounce is coming when u least xpect it :cheesy: Is the deal still on :?: better hurry you or else i give it to someone else :LOL:

The 2.50 Jan ITM Calls at 2.35 will clean you out sooner or latter :rolleyes:

And the 5.00 Jan OTM Calls at 1.40 will clean you out also, you'll not only lose ur shirt but ur house also :!: :(

When I walked past the mirror I noticed something unusual so I paused to check it out. To my dismay there was a bright yellow streak running down my back.

Instead of taking you on, I will buy the October or January 06 Calls. Pity is, I seem to take a lifetime to decide when to pull the trigger and at what level(s).
 
Unfortunatley I did not see the last post (12) before I made mine.

I can now see why you are so certain about Elan; you have got them for a song with little downside as they are in the money and as for the upside?????

It's one view of the subtleties of FDA pharmaceutical licensing procedures. Not a widely held one, but one view, I suppose. :)

I would not want to end up in the poor house so I could not write the calls under any circumstances. I am definitely a buyer at or near these levels.
 
Elan results released and it is red ink across the board as was expected. Company to cut expenses and research in order to break even at an operating level.

Shares on the rise in Europe and are likely to rise in US trading later in the day. They can now be viewed as a recovery play.

Roberto,

The patients, the IRS, the scientists and both companies want the T DRUG brought back to the mrkt.
Alcohol, cigarettes, viagra,sleeping pils, petrol polution and guns/knifes kill a larger % of people than the T drug :!: What matters most is the vast magority of MS patients want the drug back on the mrkt.
The way forward would be to see which patients get a bad reaction to the drug and give them the choice if they want to recieve it or not. But to ban it totally would be wrong because so many patients could benefit from it and ease their sufferings and give them the chance of a better and painless life :rolleyes: :LOL: just my opinion, let democracy and common sense take its course :cool:

Elan up today 7% and Biogen up too.
