Sorry, I wasn't very clear what I was talking about! A mate and I want to trade US markets after work (5pm>). Could do it at home but the ideal would be to find somewhere (Arcade? Futures broker that takes small accounts?) to trade with other people.

yeah icap are the top guys for interdealer brokers. I can't really comment on desk assistant to desk moves but at a guess 12-18 months wouldn't be unrealistic. Just a guess.
