Best Thread IG Index - Custom Betting

Hey Big, did you ever get your £3k out of IG? i'm curious to see how this story ended with you and custom bets. TBH, I thought IG was pretty straight up, as they make enough money most of the time - unless the custom bets bit is an unregulated arm to their overall SB platform. Don't know. Let us...

    options vs binaries

Hi guys, would just like your usual input, advice, and wisdom. Been SBing about 8 years, mainly inicies and FX - sometimes using binaries. Logged onto my Finspreads account (hadn't been on it for ages) - I noticed they're no longer doing binaries. When I asked them about it, was told that you...

Trades going against you: what do you do?

Thanks for the replies. Appreciate it. To reply to Shakone, my trade was hourly binaries, hence entry and exit times. I'm going to re- examine. But in this case my initial thoughts were correct. It was staring at a big loss that I pulled out, only for it to come back in my favour (after I...

Trades going against you: what do you do?

Okay, some thoughts on this. I can't believe I did what i did! I'm a reasonably experienced trader, like many on here. Doing okay, good days bad days etc. So, the situationwas this: my method is strict time entry and exit. I was set up for a good trade: all the signals were there, it was. a...

Guys I'm a commited swing trader, however, I also 'scalp' and so...

Thanks for your advice Black Swan on the 'radar' bit. Btw, I only use 1 monitor, with lots of windows minimised. I guess ultimately, it makes the PC run slower, and hence, may affect trades. I will be interested in what you finally settle for.

    Edge/Spread

'sabby, asked you a question on another post. Anyway, I ain't a buy n hold. Actually, the opposite. Yeah, suffer from occaisional slippage, so it is a problem the way I trade. I just put it down to 'one of those things' we suffer in our chosen profession. I, too, remember , the days whenwe had...

Actually, the forex bit seems a bit naff! Forgive me.

Sorry, getting off thread slightly, Kimo'sabby, are you saying that scalping with SBs is accepted, whereas using other brokers/ mechanisms isn't? The reason I ask, I mainly scalp using 2 SB companies, fairly low pound/pip, but many trades. Doing okay, exhausting sometimes, but it mainly works...

    Edge/Spread

Err, I read recently on another post that if all spreads were zero, a high percentage of traders would still fail. Maybe there's some truth to that. Dunno. I guess, ultimately, if you're trading in a longer timeframe, a spread of a couple of pips ain't gonna make a huge difference. If, on the...

How much devotion do day traders put into their work?

Oy you can know. Meant to say, 'only you can know'. (iPhone typing........)

How much devotion do day traders put into their work?

You've got to know your own trading system and what works for you. Your psychology may also dictate how you handle friends staying. If you're in for long term trades, I guess the odd lunch or a night out shouldn't hurt. If you're scalping on a 5 minute timeframe, I strongly suggest you...

    My take on spread betting,...

Yeah Jack, I remember. Actually, those trades were telephone ones! Little did I realise how quick they moved! Unbelievable to now think we traded that way, compared to now trading even on your iPhone/ Blackberry etc. I agree. Things have changed so much for the punter at home. But here's the...

Best Thread Spreadbetting, the myths and what is the reality?

Thanks Black Swan. I think forums like this are excellent for sharing knowledge and experiences. Like I said previously, I'd been on my own up until I discovered this forum, so one persons trade of £5 per pip may seem high, to another, this is just penny trading - its all relative. I certainly...

Best Thread Spreadbetting, the myths and what is the reality?

I agree that £50+ would probably start to show up. I think 10-25 per pip is reasonable. I read in one thread that somebody was putting between 100 and 150 per pip on binaries. Possibly true, but I guess their radar screen would be lit up. I know that one of the BIG SB companies claim that online...

Thanks Mike. what, in your opinion, would you consider a large trade per point?
