I was just milling around on ebay - as we women do - and came across this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Financial-Tra...05618816QQcategoryZ102485QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's a book from a company called 'Winningonline' - I've never heard of them, has anyone else?

Their stock-market expert is a former Cambridge don, Michael Kirby.
I've never hear of him either and according to the search I've done on T2W, he's not mentioned here either.

Has anybody come across him, or know about the system?

I'm curious as to why I can't find anything about him. If books/trading systems are a scam - or even reputable, this website usually has posts about it, but not on this one.

A couple of things to comment on from me:

1) The title of the publication is:
Making Money on the Financial Markets – A professional trader reveals his secret strategies"

As a general principle I have always found it good policy to avoid anything with the word "Secret(s)" in the title as I know that there aren't any

2) They have made a point of stating that the author has a PHD

My view is that having a PHD means nothing in trading as the most successful traders that I know have few if any qualifications.

I totally agree with you - and it's not that I'm considering purchasing it, far from it. It's just that I've never heard of the company before, nor the Cambridge don they quote.

This in itself, you have to admit, is unusual as this website generally has a post and an opinion- if not a whole thread - about most systems, lectures, books, trading courses or scams that are going. Is this one we've missed?

Hi JillyB

found this on him

http://www.techinvest.ie/keypeople.php

I would think that because the guy was active in the early eighties not much would be about on the internet on him. His name does crop up a lot in Cambridge University Press books and articles nothing much trading related.
Well it was fun looking anyway just in case he was a scam artist :D

Don

:)

"He has successfully traded the financial markets for institutions and his own personal account for over 20 years. For the last four years he has traded exclusively from home. "

I would of thought in that situation given above this guy would/should provide a certified record of trading stats. (not that means its the be all end all, but if its tagged to his method then you know at least its suited to him and maybe suited to another).

Probably cost him 50/80 quid to get an accountant to offer that in writing, unless he is trading as a company then company accounts she be available "Out There"

you could always ask that question re accounts on ebay, I suppose see what they blagg off with.
