Alert when price hits Pivot Points

I'm searching for a simple indicator that will alert me when price hits Pivot Points. I tend to only limit myself to few markets, but would be interested in seeing price action say when a security/index/currency hits its S3 or R3 for example. I found 1000s of indicators but none suited for this. Quite a lot of Pivot indicators, but none have alert. Any ideas?

Hi aquamarina,
I don't know what paltform you use
I use cmc and work off pivots as well, on the cmc platform you can set a price alert which coincides with your pivot and a alarm is sent to your email when the price is hit

well, that's all good, my platform (ig index) and others that I use also have that feature. The problem is that if I want to follow let's say 4 markets, and say I only want R3 and S3 (but I do really want R2 and S2 as well on some less volatile days), that's 8 alerts I need to set up at the start of every day. I am hoping to get a metatrader indicator that when a chart of say FTSE is opened will find its pivot points for that day and will alert me when price reaches those levels. So, it's all automated, and I won;t have to worry each morning which charts to update etc.

Surely it's not hard thing to do, but surprisinly I have not seen any pivot point indicator with a built-in alert.

have you looked over at forexfactory ?
there seeem to be many more geeks over there than here, someone may already have created such an indicator ....

yeah I had a look, couldnt find it. will ask guys there, maybe they can think of something.

First, you need to determine the Pivot point for that pair of currency.

Then go to alert!fx™ - foreign exchange (forex) alerts. and set the price.

You can set it for your email or mobile.

if its on Metatrader-4, I will have a go at it for the challenge.

EDIT: this is the MT-4 code I would use as a basis for my work.

Here is a source for MT4 indicators, experts, etc.: http://www.forexmt4.com/ I saw several indicators for pivots, perhaps one has an alert feature.

I have tried several things from here; sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. So, be cautious.

in ninja you can set Price Alerts as horizontal lines from within the Indicator box.
Simply overwrite the PP line with a Price Alert line and you'll get your "ding dong"

You can create Email, SMS on screen Pivot Point alerts on timetotrade for example when the price crosses above the various support and resistance levels: Pivot Points Alerts

It supports Pivot Points at varying intervals e.g. viewing the daily Pivot Points on the 10 minute chart or for example viewing the hourly Pivot Points on the 1 minute chart and then creating alerts off them: Pivot Points
