Buying breakouts

I have noticed that the best stocks breakout a few weeks before the market turns. Therefore, I am buying breakouts now. We shall see how this works out. I won't be doing this in real time so the actual buy points are as close to where I would buy as I can get. In the long run, the value of the portfolio will be close but anyone can come up with valid arguments for a few percent here and there.

ISRG analysis

Holding through earnings requires quick thinking. I think it is a wash in a good market whether your stock gaps up or down. But hesitating on a gap down will cause problems.

I am not watching this portfolio all that close and would probably do trades differently if it was real money. I most certainly would pay more attention to details. I would probably have tried to get out after/before hours of some but that will not be modeled here.

I should have sold more at the gap down while I was still up. I thought it may bounce and do well but I should only have held 1/3 instead of the 2/3 I did. I wasn't paying much attention and sold the wrong chunk, but I'll stick to what I said on Friday.

The goal of this journal is to list what happens to real stocks as a learning experience. I hope after several months (assuming the market picks up) that I will be up and show the potential of CANSLIM like investing. The actual execution of individual trades is questionable and results are plus or minus a few percent.

Sold everything this Morning

Not looking good. Very oversold and not rallying. Odds going against me now so I'll regroup and buy most of these back when the market turns.

Starting to buy again

I have not had time to update from my sells last week. I re-bought UTHR yesterday at 49.90.

Bought back WC at 55.65.

Will buy back APPX if it behaves well after earnings this morning.
