8 july
play 1:
Buy Stop Long at 1247, target 1253,
play 2:
stop "n" reverse Short 1253, target1: 1247, target2:1239, target3:1232

alternate play if price doesn't trigger play 1:
Sell Stop Short 1239, target 1232

well i was dead wrong about the second play, 'cos price just bounced off the Weekly S1 at 1247 and never looked like coming back. So gains on the Long were hit by the stop loss on the Short.

9 July, pre-market opening play:
sell stop @ 1270, target 1266

will update if there is any intra-day activity

sell stop raised to 1270.75

stopped out -3

-------------------------------
next trade

sell stop 1275 triggered, target 1271

out for +4

-------------------------------

now looking for possible bounce higher off the weekly pivot

-----------------------

took another +5 from 1271 to 1276
22:57hrs: Now flat awaiting a touch of PP or R1

22:30hrs
Buy Stop @ 1281, TP1285.5
Sell Stop @ 1266, TP1261.5

oops, only took 4.5 points out of a 20+ move, 'cos my short trigger was correct but I could only set TP1 because I went to bed.
If I'd been up, I would maybe have kept a portion of the position open and gone with the runner. ah well, the methodology is the most important thing ...

10 july
results so far this week
+6 (x3 contracts)
-4 (x3)
-3 (x3)
+4 (x3)
+5 (x9)
+4.5 (x9)

these are full $ movements by the way, so multiply by 4 for actual trade steps

Tuesdays action had bounced right off Weekly S1, yesterday's action dropped to it like a magnet and closed almost dead on it

Great stuff! Thanks for publishing what you do with your stops - I hope to learn a lot from this.

Joey

thanks Joey, not sure there's much i can teach you, you seem to be doing ok.

there was a text book bounce off S1 at 1236.
i didn't take it, i might be done for the day already unless something stands out.
over to Gold now, 'cos that's looking a bit interesting ....

although I'll hazard a small (3 lot only) resting long buy stop at 1258 with targets of 1260, 1261 & 1263
and tight loss stops at 1256.50, 1255.50 & 1255

ticks vs time

two noteworthy points -

look at the beautiful short divergence on the tick chart that isn't so obvious on the time chart

and secondly, on the time chart, look at the significant role that Pivots play

which chart would you rather observe ?

me ....... both !

Calculation of pivot points

Garry,

If you don't mind me asking, are your pivot points a rolling 5 day number with the:

H = High of previous 5 days (excluding today)
L = Low of previous 5 days (excluding today)
C = Yesterday's close

Or do you update at intervals throughout the current session aswell?

Thanks,
Joey

I went for a 6 pointer off the daily PP at sell limit 1262.75. It worked, but I didn't get filled!
Still, learning something off you.

Cheers,
Joey
