Hi guys,

I have just passed the tests of Optiver and I have some questions, hoping somebody can help me here!!

1. I will receive a telephone interview next thurday and if I pass, I'll go to Amsterdam for a long interview. So I want to know as usual how many peopel will take the interview and what's the rate to get the offer? and what kind of questionss? I got a pretty good result for the tests 80/80, 24/26, 38/40, the problem is I am an actuary sciences' student in France, and my school is not that famous on finance... to be frank, I have a good enough background for financial theory and programming, and I don't think someone cares!!

2. I'v found that we will be trained once we get the offer, and I know there are some people will 'let go' after maybe 6 months, can someone tell me how and why, and what's the percentage?

3. I don't know to much about the prop trading firm, at least less than the IBs, and I ve found some other ones like IMC, tibra, are they famous in this domain? With which markets they do the trading? for example, optiver amsterdam? and the others, are they recruiting?

4.what's the future of a trader for a prop trading firm? Compared to hedge fund, IB, or even acturies? Because I ve got a offer from a fund as assistant of fund manager, and sereval jobs as actuary. The raison I chose to study actuarial sciences is the crisis of 2008, so how is the market now? and once I want to the change, what can I do after?

Thanks

Nobody can help?

Hi mate,

I applied for the same position and passed all the math test even I was not as accurate as you were. I now have a phone interview coming soon with Optiver Amsterdam. According to the confirmation mail, the interview will be assessing my motivational skills in order to determine whether or not to invite you for interviews at our Amsterdam office.

As you have passed this stage already, can you let me know what kind of questions should I expect at this stage and if successful at the latest stage in their Amsterdam office?

Cheers

I can't be of help but those are nice scores though, congrats. From what I heard the hardest part is over now.

I do have a question though, do you perhaps know of a site where I can practice the test because I still have to do it. I found tradertest.org but I found out that the real tests are MC which requires a whole different approach.

Good luck and please give us an update on how the interview went

Hi!

I passed the 1st numerical test because I applied only for the wholesaler position.

Would you please give me some information about the phone interview?

Thank you very much for your help

I will have my interview in few days.

I will let you know whether yours is after mine. When will you get your phone interview?
If you have any advices, let me know :)

Thank you

The fact is I'm considering applying to optiver :) Btw do you do online tests to prepare yourself ? if so do, which ones.
Anyway let know how your interwiev went, good luck mate.

tradertest.org

but it's harder, train you with fractions, they are killing

12/5 + 30/15 =

A) 17/5
b) 57/15
c)..

GOOD luck

I trained during two days but I passed it by luck, I got the minimum score

derivatives = 54/80 ( grey zone= 48)
wholesale = 46/80 ( I do not know the grey zone)

Hi linningtony,

I have a telephone interview this week with Optiver having passed the numerical tests.

I was wondering could you give me some clues about what I will be asked during the telephone interview.

Many thanks

Hi guys,

I'm considering applying to Optiver but I've read some pretty bad things about the attrition rate there. Does anyone have any insight on this ? Most of the forum I have been reading indicate 50% but it seems very high to me. Also what starting salary can we expect ? I've read 33k base on this forum but some other sources indicate 65K base. Don't really know which one is correct.

Hi linningtony,

Hope your interview went through pretty well. I just want to know something about the test that you where excellent.

Please do suggest.

I had a phone interview with the HR. She asked me to go through my resume. Then:

1. how your friends describe you
2. what do you think make a good trader
3. why do you want to do trading
4. why Optiver
5. you said you can learn from your mistakes, can you give an example?

Hope this helps

Anybody can help with the phone interview questions? What they are going to ask?
