Hope someone can help !

Starting yesterday, any web page that I viewed, inexplicitly would scroll down without my intervention. Then, I noticed, any data cells would disappear which I entered on my Tradestation, my Skype chat would keep inserting 'spaces' without my intervention, and similiarly on Messenger.

Anyone got any ideas, I have disabled all my start up programs, have run my anti-virus software (was clean), re-installed IE6, removed any unwanted software, and all to no avail.

Thanks.

A system restore to a better time might do the trick...

Thanks all.

I should add that I was using a wireless keyboard and mouse, and have changed back to a 'wired' one of each. But still the problem.

Cheers

Thanks Ian.

Was thinking this. but, can only restore back one day. so the 13th. I first noticed this on the evening of the 12th.

Cheers

Thanks Ian.

can only restore back one day.

Why is that?
If it is because you are being prevented from doing so then it appears you may well have the pox!
Try starting in safe mode and then run virus/spychecker

dont do it

system restore can cause as many problems as it fixs in my experience

always seems to lose paths to files / shortcuts etc and makes untold multy copies if all does not go well

LM may have the correct answer or along those lines, I have had that with faulty mouse wheel

Vegas,

LM's suggestion of sticky kbd is a high probability in my experience (have you ever spilt your tea/coffee/gin over it during an exciting trade?) . It's also worth checking the cable connection (if not wireless) - possibly a dodgy connection where it plugs in (especially if at the back) - make sure it's properly pushed in. If you have a spare kbd, try that.

Another possibility is that your AV hasn't picked up an infection (could be a new one / AV not fully up to date) or AV has been disabled. If you have a decent backup system / image etc, there comes a point when it's not worth pursuing any more and easiest solution is to re-image or reload.

I've always believed computers are like cars and the ladies: they'll always cost you and always give you problems - but what a way to go!

Be interesting to know result when you get to bottom of this.

Well, fantastic.....thanks all....the problem has been sorted......fingers very crossed !!!

Great advice....the problem was the keyboard and mouse drivers. I had changed a few weeks back to a new wireless kb and mouse, it did'nt suit and I changed back...but left in all my software and hardware intact (the thinking was I might change back again).

Now after removing the said offending articles, everything seems to be running again fine.

Don't understand the 'why'...if anyone can explain that would be great.

Cheers again

Hahahahahahah.

The 'Why'?

How long have you got, this is computers with Microsoft Windows (I assume) we're talking about here, could be any one of 10,001 problems :)

Frank,

It depends on who has written the drivers and their compatibility with all makes of motherboard etc. Sometimes you just get hardware that doesn't work with one particular brand. You could try another brand of wireless kb and see how you get on.

Thanks Paul, will do. What a day !

Cheers,
Frank.

Use the drivers that came with the new keyboard and mouse, or go to there website and download the most up todate version, delete the old one's if possible......good luck
