NinjaTrader pegged at 100% CPU

I have been using NinjaTrader for around a week now, and had no problems. This morning, for no apparent reason, the program will randomly hang and peg the CPU at 100%. This can happen when starting up as long as there are charts open in the workspace. Starting it up with only the "control center" open seems to work, but when charts get loaded it hangs.

I am using Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 4 with no other software installed and NinjaTrader 6 (latest version).

I am running this under VMWare 5.5.4 on Gentoo Linux (but the configuration of that machine hasn't changed either).

I've tried shutting down the Windows 2000, then shutting down VMWare services and rebooting the Linux box, then starting the VMWare and booting Win2K again, but this doesn't fix it.

Any suggestions?

NT6 minimum system requirements is 1gb memory. I had been running it (albeit slowly) with 512mb B4 adding an xtra 1gb memory. Not sure why this is affecting the CPU though  .

NT6 is heavy on PC resources - a very good platform, but thats all it is a platform. Ninja have created the platform but don't supply datafeeds, therefore datafeeds need to be purchased/acquired from elsewhere.

(All in all for fx trading, I'd rather use the free MT4).

If you think your issue might be due to lack of RAM - see this thread -

Thanks for the reply. The problem appears to have stopped (I can't tell too much, but I opened the app with no charts and have added 3 charts and a T&S which has been running for a few hours). I've noticed hanging when I try to use MACD, so I will avoid that indicator - I was learning to ignore it anyway prior to this.

I'll post here again if I have anything else.

I understand NT 6 requires XP and 1 Gb min although one or two have got it going with W2K
There seem to be issues but NT 5 is better with W2K
I haven't run it so far but have been into their conference sessions and asked the Q because I'm on W2K right now
The caveat seems to be " make sure you have the RAM"
Good Luck

This has been an issue with workspace recovery on the current release and has showed up in limited circumstances. This has been resolved for the next update due out later this week.

If you delete the following file and restart you will be fine.

My Documents\NinjaTrader 6\workspaces\Default.xml

I now unable to reproduce this issue. The software is now functioning correctly again. I am impressed by the quality of both the software and the customer service I have received from NT.

Keep up the good work!
