Is it safe to download Realplayer? Can it be made safe somehow or is there an alternative where realplayer has been specified as a requirement. Thanks for feedback

RealPlayer is a very evil piece of software and I never want it anywhere near my PC. I remember from a few years back where it was almost impossible to turn certain functions off even when you clearly clicked the tab 'Turn Off' etc. I bget this is still the case. I wish the Americans would realise that many people outside their boarders take real offence and the 'sell, sell, sell at all costs' mentality.

Check this link out and see what people are saying.

PS. The fact that the BBC only allows you to listen to the radio via Realplayer is I think a national scandal. There must have been some grubby money deal done behind the scenes and the public are paying the price. If they published a Windows Media format I bet their listeners would double in six months - but then their bandwidth cost would go through the roof......

Hi Osho

Unlike Anley, I don't have any trouble with Realplayer....and the fact the BBC use RealPlayer, means I HAVE to have it

Osho

As a product it's still pretty crap and I have never liked it. I do however have it installed as I am one of those that listens to radio 1 on the net. Wouldn't use it for anything else though, running anything other than audio is pretty rubbish and I avoid it at all costs.

Other than that it has sat on my PC quite fine for the last year without causing me any problems. I of course make sure that it is only ever active when I want it to be and made sure that the only files that are associated with it are those that are specific to realplayer.

Cheers

Lard
