Hi,

As a fairly new day trader in the US and emerging equities markets, I would like to know where traders get their best news and research from and furthermore, in such a fast moving daily environment what factors engage you to buy a stock that you will knowingly sell before the day is out.

I personaly watch Bloomberg and am trying to chose between eSignal and Tradestation at the moment for various other data sources. For example I bought 'Best Buy' this morning on news from Bloomberg and sold at a % increase, although a little late.

I would really appreciate any strategies and methods people use for day trading. Thanks.

For day trading purpose, I trade whatever stocks that fit the requirements and conditions of the sepcific setups... So, basically I don't really need to know which stock is in the hot seat on any specific day. I rather need to know which stock will be a better fit for any of the setups I use...

I usually finish the trades (with a profit or a loss) between 20 mins and 2 hrs after I enter the orders.
I usually don't chase hot stocks based on news unless they fit my setups' needs.

I strongly recommend esignal over tradestation... as my expereience with tradestation is horrible... both in term of it's execution and data feeding reliability tho the layout of tradstation looked nicer visually to me.

Best luck on trading.

Thanks mark for the reply. I have since taken eSignal and am using it as a demo. I have been trying to arbitrarily pick stocks and then research them but find this is not a good strategy for day trading as you might find a great stock on paper but it might not move until there is some relevant news. Therefore I tend to follow news and articles to pick stocks that I think would move on the day from resources like bloomberg tv and other equity websites.

Regards,
Sheikh

Hi Mark,

I saw your comment on tradestation. I am using esignal at the moment for stock trading and I am not so happy about the lagging data. It sometimes takes 12/15 seconds to update the charts in esignal.

My question for you is: How 'bad' is it in tradestation?

Kind regards,
