Did the FTSE just spike down to 5106 (about 9pm) or is it my spread betting firm trying to earn a bit on the side?

FOMC announcement at 7:15pm. Then the DOW sold off into the close. FTSE will have sold off too. I have no idea why you are trading it out of hours though, as they can show whatever price they like, especially if it's rolling daily not futures.

Closing a position. I agree too late. This move down started at 8:10. So 5106 is made up?

1) What spreadbetting firm?
2) What contract are you trading?

Phone them up, that's the only way of verifying.

Capital Spreads. Now quoting 5116.5 so I assume its a genuine price as I could buy it now Probably FOMc

Thanks- economic calendars are useful aren't they

Hope it was a stop for profit mate. I don't have CS so can't compare.

IG chart shows a midprice 5106 and etx 5110 rolling daily. Not including 2-6 spreads.

GL.

Finspreads chart shows same, though they use the same data provider as CS so not suprising - but this looks genuine ptice action to me.

After 4:30pm you're not SB-ing the FTSE100 - you never are really, its a quote like a retail price in a shop - but 0800-1630 its as near the underlying market as makes no difference. These days I ignore FTSE price action outside London market hours and even cancel stops for overnight. Been stopped out (or in) too many times by meaningless evening / night-time fluctuations.
