City Index vs CMC Markets?

What are the pros / cons with these two providers?
Anyone care to share their experiences with these?

Welcome fatherDagon..

I can't speculate on the pros and cons between the two brokers but one thing i would be very mindful of is DMA. Direct Market Access CFD prices and liquidity are identical to the underlying equity markets. Investors enter into CFDs at the underlying market price (hence the brokers don't 'mess' with the prices)
I am not sure whether City Index and CMC offer this. GNI Touch however do offer this.
I have heard numerous stories of brokers 'making their own prices up' in favor of their position (to the point of a 40 point difference from the underlying market price!!!) There are more detailed articles on here explaining this.

Just the very Basics

CMC Markets vs. City Index :

Execution Model: Synthetics vs. DMA Level I
Commission €8.00(€ listed stocks) + 0,08 % vs. €25.00 +0,2 %
Software: installable vs. web
Overnight charge: LIBOR/ EONIA + 4% vs. LIBOR/ EONIA + 2,25%

Hope that helps
Cheers

why did you not consider IGIndex as part of your possiblities :?:
....they seem pretty good....not so?

He've asked for CFD Provider, right ;)
But are right, all IG businesses are a recommendation worth.

i'm and IG fan, opening the account is simple, charges are great and the platform is very simple to use. I do prefer the charts on CMC though

Saxo is also a DMA level 1 in retail, E-trade is a WL from CI.

i never knew E-trade was a WL from City Index, you learn something new every day :smart:. As far as i am aware E-trade offer a synthetic platform with a flat fee and DMA with a 0.20% charge,

E-trade maybe a WL from City Index but ICAP controls everthing, hence the money :)

My advise is to go with direct market acsess and not touch a spread betting firm usless you want to be short changed with over night charges and high spreads ( bib /offer ) quotes.

Pluss read there terms and conditions, it will become good reading to potencial custermers who are thinking of becoming a custermer.

I spent a year read almost CFD and SB firms' term and conditions, then one thing I can say, it is a f***ing jok.(n)

I have traded IG for a few months and found their site easy to understand. I tried trading CMC Markets and their site is so fussy and obscure that the only reason I continued with it was that the spreads seemed tighter than IG. The last few days however they seemed to have changed the rules without notice and the spreads and penalties seem higher. Has anyone who uses their site noticed this?
