I think this is fundamental analysis, but i was scouring this forum and found a site, investorease.com which lists all of the DIVIDEND DATES for the FTSE 100.

My question is, and will probably sound really stupid to most of you, but why would i need to know this. How will it help me in my quest for "bucks"??

Cheers

when a share goes xd its price drops by the dividend amount (in theory since it can often recover quickly). So, if a lot of ftse 100 shares go xd on the same day their prices are likely to fall and that will affect the index.

ex dividend......it is the last day on which the holders of a particular share will receive the dividend payment.

If you bought the shares a day later then you would not get paid that particular dividend. The end result is that on a particular day the stock goes 'xd' and drops (in theory) by the value of the dividend.
