Reality of Trading for a Living...is this for me?

Hello everybody I am pretty new to this forum although I have been a member for close to a year I just havent really spent much time on the forum... anyways.

I have been trading and continuing to research for over a year now and although I some nice trades here and there I seem to just be spinning my wheels. When I say "had some nice trades" I mean like had some success for a couple days or weeks but never consistently months on end. Overall I have lost money; therefore thats when I went ahead and became a member of a website called Specialist Trading by the guy of a named Steven Primo(any advice of feed back from this guy is greatly appreciated) and he is a great help he provides me with everything I need to trade but now I just wonder if this business is even for me anymore. I initially started when I graduated from High School last year and for a graduation present my parents had given me $10,000 to try it out. The more research I do now it just seems that it is so much more complicated than just what I figured it was. I initially wanted to come in to trade so that I can make 10, 15, or 20 dollars a day but I realized in trading nothing is guarenteed. Then when I consider having to pay taxes on my gains and such I start to wonder if this is for me. I am a college student and I need to maintain my grades and therefore cannot put as much time into this as to sitting in front of the computer all day although I realize that it has been over a year and I am still doing research and I think I want to do this but I am just not sure. I have not given up completely. Can anybody please give me some adivice on my issue?

P.S. I also realized that due to my college schedule that I would need to be more of a swing trader because I do not have the time day trade.

Stay away from these guys selling training, most of them haven't a clue, I suppose it might be too late to tell you that. You should concentrate on your studies and forget about trading, you could still be losing money in 5 years time and have crap qualifications as well.

He had to, he was getting too many death threats . I mean, we all expect them now and then, but I think he was getting about 1 per day.

Just let it go, everybody who argues with him ends up wishing they hadn't.

Good luck with that.

If you're not doing anything wrong, you might get one.

But if you are up to some naughtiness, I doubt it. One guy threatened him with an AK47 and as far as I'm aware he's still waiting for his apology.

So unless you're completely pure or equipped with something at least .50 calibre or bigger, I wouldn't bother.

EDIT:

I like your name by the way. Very evocative.

sounds like you are not trading a proven edge couple that with not having a plan and using the services of a vendor and essentially what you are doing is transferring your money to your retail broker and said vendor.

sounds harsh but that is the reality of the matter.

now when you consider you are giving your money to your retail broker and vendor you are not even at base 1. capiche.

If you choose to see the wood from the trees and start trading properly. i.e. trading the real market, don't seek vendors seek profitable traders to help you. then you can get to base 1.

alas though that is where the game begins, at present you are not in the game, well you are in a game but not the game you think you are in. capiche.

Now at base 1 you are actually trading the real market you are in a negative sum game against the best brains in the business, very intelligent, very competitive people all out to shaft each other. Most are seasoned professionals 10 year+ experience or part of teams with said people.

Still wanna play? ok well the good news is you can make a living trading, you can make a hell of a lot of money trading but most wont.

So at present I would say you are not even in the game, you are in someone else's game where you are their play thing.

sorry if it all sounds a bit harsh but sometime the reality of trading can be brutal.

good luck to you.
