Anyone got any papers, books or any information at all on how much of volume in each or any asset class derives from speculative activities?

yes, commitment of traders report.

another thing you could look at is daily volume versus open interest/market cap/amount outstanding. The greater the latter in proportion to the former, as a general rule, the more hedging is going on. Not guaranteed of course...

For me the COT report wasnt even a Tradeable tool. It was an interesting informational tool to have but not a practical tradeable tool.

No trying to trade it just want it for information purposes. I'm still trying set the pieces on the board mate.

I burnt out through information overload at end of last year and I'm starting from scratch with what I hope is a new and more effective BS filter.

Nice I wish I had a BS filter. Cut my viewing of Forums in half.

Q1. What have you held onto after the overload?
A1. Price Action, Risk Management, Money mangement, and Income trading are the only things worth its weight in gold.

Q2. What did you end up throwing away?
A2. Almost all indicators, All research, All paid subscriptions, Paid courses, and Retail buying of books.

What is income trading?

i don't think COT is all that helpful, sure it provides colour but it doesn't tell you what the initial question is about.

say for example a hedge fund are holding a large position in the OTC market and use the listed options market to hedge it....blurred lines you see.

i agree it is helpful, don't get me wrong but it's not the be all and end all.

not for me. i liek knowing what positions are where but it doesn't tell you if it is a primary position, hedge etc....

He would be the first trader to say that COT is the biggest tool in his arsenal.

COT and Price?
