Hi All

I have been called by GandR Capital Management and have invested some money with them. Has anyone heard of them.

I have been talking to a guy called Michael Lawson from GandR Capital and invested in CHK Chestapeak Energy and this was moved to another investment called PPP.

Has anyone heard of these guys and how are your investments going?

Gosh, looks like I might have been scamed out of my money. I have put 15K into a deal with them.

Anyone know who I can talk to about it.

I am very worried about this investment.

If you are worried you can contact the FSA and give them full details:

http://www.fsa.gov.uk/

The City of London police also have a section dedicated to boiler rooms and similar scams:

http://www.cityoflondon.police.uk/CityPolice/ECD/Fraud/boilerroom.htm

If they are dodgy, they are probably using a fairly new name. These things tend to show up on boards fairly quickly - this is the only mention I can find so far (scroll down to the comments):

GandR are not authorised by the FSA (you can check this by looking on the FSA register).

Personally, I would not invest in anything of this nature. I hope that you have not been the victim of a scam, but if I were you I would waste no time in contacting the relevant authorities. Above all (this may sound silly, but I have known people who have done it) do not send them any extra money. Scams rarely stop at one bite.

Its a boiler room scam, read the thread with that title here on trade2win. Your money has most likely been stolen, they will soon approach you to exchange, sell or derestrict your 'shares', this is another scam where they ask you for a fee up front to sort it all out for you. They will steal this as well and then disappear. They may also approach you using a different name but it will all be part of the scam so dont fall for it.

They are also mentioned here http://www.lovemoney.com/news/manag...op-three-most-dangerous-phone-scams-4286.aspx

Mike, im not trying to be harsh and I don't enjoy seeing other people potentially blow their money, but how on earth can you ''invest'' 15k with out knowing anything!! Seems crazy to me.

They contacted me too. A gentleman calling himself Mr. Slash seemed very keen for me to part with some funds, and suggested that if I wasn't 100% comfortable with the due diligence process that I speak to his manager, Mr Rose.

I spoke to Mr. Rose who seemed somewhat brusque if the truth be told. When, for example, I asked him if they were marketing their services to 'expert investors' (and therefore not having to operate under the same amount of fiduciary and best execution responsibility that they would do when touting for business amongst the unwary, retail investor) he simply replied "welcome to the jungle". All very odd.

I'd avoid if I were you.

I very, very nearly posted something very similar. It is harsh, but lets face it - bound to happen sooner or later.

Mike,

I was contacted by G & R Capital selling Chesapeake Energy shares. The guy's name was Cecil Rhodes - yes Cecil Rhodes!! Chesapeake Energy shares were offered at "an institutional price" of about 10% less than their quote on the NYSE. I did not like the pressure sales tactics of Mr Rhodes and I was and still am suspicious about G & R Capital. I decided not to invest.

Did you ever receive your share certificate for Chesapeake Energy? Who / what are PPP?

I would be very careful when dealing with G & R Capital

Bob.

You have invested 15k in such website, just after a phone call???

Not that I am bragging of or something, but on our website our hedge fund has about 200 pages information + investment management contract to sign + login on the website for customers + software downloads + contact details in New York.
And so far we have achieved our clients only after actual meetings with them face to face.

Can we call you and ask you to invest...10 000? :)

lol...seriously - PM me if you need some advice/feedback. I can even help with more information on these fellows you are putting your money in...well I am myself an award winning programmer and worked in computer security - so I can definitely help with information about businesses,

cheers

So is your hedge authorised by the FSA to seek funds from clients in the UK and are you the same Landon Donovan that plays football for LA Galaxy?

I suspect it will be two no's there.
