After steady progress since the lows in March the mnarket appears to be retracting.

Is this a minor correction before it goes on higher towards the end of the year or is this based on reality check on news from the US on unemployment foreclosures etc.

I am cash rich in my account at the moment having liquidated Aviva (about 70p too early ouch!) and Premier Foods (didnt really go like the others I have)

I have put in a limit order to buy British Land at 450p (down from 530) and PV Crystalox at 69p (down from 87). I probably hope to get both Monday.

I watched my favourites Xstrata lose me £150 on paper last week but still sitting on nice earner with this so will hang in and buy more if price gets lower sub 750.

"w" recession???

Well one chap at HSBC says it is a "W" recession and the market will retract and it all goes down, next day someone else at HSBC says recovery is strong and market closes Friday back up to wher it began.

I have heard that the corporate reporting for the third quarter coming out now, shows firms are maintaining profits against falling sales. This being due to their cutting costs. However, there comes a time when there is nothing left that can be cut and then the profits could show decreases resulting in a fall back on current share prices.

Me thinks it is a brave man that buys now, unless a single stock gets hit and falls to a level to hard to resist.

Time to cash in thiose gains?

hi there !!

speculations are just made to cash on the recession part... I dont think so the recovery from recession would be so early

VW recession?

In the papers this weekend someone said it may be a VW recession.

Belt up and hang on  for the ride!

As for the euro/usd ;The long term trend is definitely long, but yesterday the usd came back on itself after us stocks decreased the economy showing more signs of weskness-it benefits the currency-nearly 100 pips!

Hardly a surprise though given the huge bearish divergences on almost every market indicator I review. The big question is how far it will fall. My best guess is that we will be chopping around at this level for some time.
