guys.......

just wanted to warn you of a firm masquerading as a commodities broker. They put an ad in gumtree for commodities brokers but when you apply you get a guy informing you that they sponsor a company which provides the training before being offered the role. this will cost you £250 with no guarantee of a job at the end. the training firm is learnglobaltrade.com............so beware

it was on gumtree, they was running an ad for a commodities broker under a company called "WINTHORPE GROUP", it's just a front for learnglobaltrade. When i applied a few days ago i got a call and got a whole 15min sales pitch........i kept getting emails now from them saying that they have offered me the role in principle and that i need to do the course to get a certification to prove my competence.........i mean no interviews, just a 15min call and they have offered me the role..............suspicious? i should say so............so beware, just wanted to warn my fellow traders

LOL, perhaps the tutor is called Billy Ray Valentine:D Still he did over those Duke bros. good and proper

Learn global trade.com

lol ok well i want to say that you guys have obviously barked up the wrong tree, ive completed a course with them and im now working for one of their sponsor brokerage houses, these guys have nothing to do with stocks shares etc its the physical commodities they move and im well on the way to brokering my first sugar deal through 4 Brazilian refineries and buyers in hong kong... so frankly im grateful for the training

Just to put the story straight the brokerage house im working for who sponsors learnglobaltrade.com is attached to their parent company winthorpe which is based in the USA they've got their director of trade there and have brokers working for them pretty much in every major continent ...

so im not sure what your going on about its far from a scam, infact its bloody hard work but rewarding if you do what your taught.

I responded to them from gumtree too and learnglobal has nothing to do with winthorpe they are a totally separate company, i suggest you check on companies house and do some diligence before you go bananas posting crap... I do think you need to get your facts right before you knock someone mate

anyway ...good luck everyone! :)

Phil
p.s.
you take one lump of sugar with your tea or 2? lol

Here's a picture of LearnGlobalTrade.com registered office, looks a bit dodgey to me:
E14 3NG - Google Maps

Also, what is this ICT (International Chambers of Traders) stuff all about? You say that your course is 'authorised' and 'regulated' by them and by doing the course you receive life time membership?

I have never heard of it and no one from the commodities desk at work have heard of it?

no mate its not their head office, its their registered address ..i also checked it out on companies house. They use 4 different training centers around London, and the company was recently set up by a group of very experienced physical commodities brokers, to give a foundation introduction to people to learn how to physically trade the material. They have teamed up with a number of brokerage houses to give people the chance to get into their industry.

To be totally honest, I'm glad they did I never even knew this industry was there and yet, here i am, waiting for my first sugar consignment to hit port of discharge so I can get paid! ... credit to those blokes to be honest... I must admit the work is not easy, but well worth it.

I think your pretty much confusing what they do with shares, options, futures, etc it has nothing to do with that at all, in fact, they made that pretty clear to me from the outset.

Your industry, in terms of what you do with trades should be regulated by the FSA, well with this industry, FSA does not come into it, (something i also checked out) They are a totally different industry, and I do have my ICT certificate with me right here.

I think what i'll do is tell some of the others to come talk to you here as well. I don't think its right to call any group a scam without knowing the facts to be honest, and frankly im pleased I've learned these skills and seeing the results.

your real name TOMMY by any chance?

Here's the thing.
I approached learnglobal trade.com to do their course. Then i started digging around to find out some background detail on them. Not much around to be honest but companies house say they registered in March this year so a new set up. Fair enough. Then i queried them on there ICT accreditation/certification/number they give to you at they end of the course which is supposed to be industry recognised. They didnt return my call. Found this thread and through Phil on here, found out that ICT actually have a website even though you cant find out anything about ICT via google?
The website is ICT.
On looking at this website, it looks to me as a front. There is no company information, contact details, registration details or anything, just blurb i could have written! On finding out about their domain, I find out that the domain was registered in March this year also...just as learnglobaltrade was! This looks, smells, tastes funny to me. Anything you guys can dig up would be appreciated.
Phil seems cool with them though.
Cant see who in the industry would recognise this so called ICT accreditation/certification/number they give out! In fact they say that they are regulated and licenced by the ICT! How so??? They only been up and running since March this year?
Man oh man,

Man oh man,

my advice, dont do it, i applied via gumtree thinking i was applying direct to the company, then had a phone call from some bloke called tommy giving me the whole sales spiel about how much money i can make.........funny thing was it was word for word the same as what was written on the learn global website. also there is no guarantee of a job as well as no salary, and if you check out pualo's link there registered office is a bloody flat in the docklands! and funny how this phil seems to be doing so well!

just out of interest, what's the name of the brokerage you work for? not winthorpe group is it? if you could put everyone straight about the firm and this ICT certificate that even brokers from SUCDEN Financial havent heard of that would be great.

Hi Mate i also took the learnglobaltrade course recently its basically a foundation course which lasts for only 2 days giving you the basic skills you need to find and diligence genuine end buyers and sellers of commoditys , sucden wouldnt know (i went to thier website) Sucden Financial, Commodity and Financial Futures and Options Brokers - Commodity, financial equity futures and options, forex, cfds and OTC derivatives because they are in a completely different industry altogether, what learnglobal teach is basically IMPORT AND EXPORT and how it works is that you are taught not to touch forex or financial instruments because you are not qualified even with physical movement of goods you have legal and proffessional teams from the brokerage house that do the hard work for you your only trained to find genuine leads diligence it via the correct organisations for whatever lead you are working on and pass it on to those who are qualified to deal with it ie the relevent department within the brokerage house , i cant speak for phil i dont know him he wasnt in my class from what i see on the website they are running regularly there is NO SALARY because its a 100% commision from a closed industry which has traditionally been for the very wealthy ie in one transaction im working on now the representative im talking too is an agent of S.D ROCKAFELLA HOLDINGS they are looking for russian origin FUEL which the brokerage house will supply via a group of RUSSIAN refineries hence why there is no salary it has traditionally been for the elites but with this basic training and proffessional support from brokerage houses (that deal with physical commoditys only) what would be the point of a fixed salary? the motivation is in the large commission you can earn even with a 1mmt spot deal or 100,000 tons icumsa 45 sugar deal the commission is huge AS FOR THE ICT from what i know they are an independent organisation like many others that regulate industrys HOPE THAT HELPS MATE !

learn global

Hello,

I just want to add to this thread. Ive completed the learn global training course last month and to be honest im happy with what I've learned.

I only recently got my ICT number which is fine, but i too was a bit baffled and asked the same questions in the outset which is fair enough to be honest.

After looking through all of this, i think that with all fairness you are all confused about something, and in all honesty, i think learnglobal need to perhaps clarify a few points on this too, i.e. the difference between a brokerage house that deals with options and a brokerage that deals only with import export, 2 very different things.

First of all, i feel that when you say commodities broker, you are all confusing this with the general trade of financial s and Commodities, like Financial Futures & Options brokers etc. This is NOT what the learnglobal lot are teaching. It's basically a foundation course into import export and the practical ways of actually making trades work.

My background was marketing and sales and about 5 years ago i stumbled on a website called Alibaba.com - The world's largest online B2B marketplace. i don't know if you guys know about it, basically its full of literally thousands of buyers and sellers of commodities (which is where i think the 'physical commodities' come into it).
I herd about them through a mate of mine who knew someone who made money from trading wheat, so i wanted to check it out. So after a preamble of talking to my mate i registered with them and started to try and connect buyers and sellers.

Basically, i was 'brokering' but not in the sense of what you might think a commodities broker is, this was literally talking to people who had buyers and sellers for the 'raw' stuff who were interested in buying and selling it.

Anyway, to put a long story short, i soon found myself involved in sending and receiving loi and fco type documents in email to try to make some money through these sales. Needless to say, it was time consuming and i never really got anywhere, even though i tried dam hard even with my family connections in Ghana and Nigeria to trade.

I then saw this add on gumtree like you guys have seen with the learn global lot offering this course, so i naturally called them up and went onto one of their courses. I was surprised to learn at the course that all the loi, fco stuff i was trying to trade with was not how it is supposed to be done. I must give them credit though, the boys there taught me well, and now instead of being someone who plays with paperwork i have actually made some money from trading vanilla, cotton, and scrap metal. Im trying to work with blco (bonny light crude oil) now with the oil refineries back home in Nigeria which is now all making more sense thanks to the learn global lot.

As for the ICT, i knew from the guys at learn global that the ICT is a totally different industry standard advisor nothing to do with regulating shares options finances etc. I know that they are a non-governmental organisation that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors. I tell you something, with the 2 years i wasted chasing loi's im grateful to the knowledge I've now got and happy that there is someone teaching this stuff.

So just to clarify here:
A/ don't confuse what learn global teach with financial trades it's import export.
B/ learn global is new but its well worth the time and effort to learn and the guys there know their stuff.
c/ ICT - looks like they are independent and nothing to do with again financial s etc more to do with the import export side of international trade which is exactly what learn global was teaching.

ive said my piece ... femi :)

appreciate the post, but SUCDEN are commodities brokers and one of the top ones in the industry, i know cos my mate works there so they are in the same industry and he has never ever heard of ICT, and he has been a broker for over 7 years!..............anyway, i'm not going to get into to this debate, for anyone thinking of taking the course, just do your due diligence and make your own conclusion.........just out of interest, where did you do your course? and which company do you work for?

also just to let you know, it will look suspicious when every "GEORGE ENGLAND" and "FEMI" makes a post 15mins apart and are both newbies with 1 post and joined on the same day. using different names from the same PC will get you caught out and banned.

i just read thorough Femi's post and it is so bludy obvious from the way your writing it is the same person, no i am not confused, i know the difference between options, futures and commodities.........it says on the website that they teach commodities broking i.e sugar trades etc, thats what SUCDEN do alongside trading options and futures..............anyway, this is pointless............people will read this and work it out themselve.

well sherlock check the ip address if your so certain, and to be honest i actually don't care what you think, at the end of the day you are obviously not clued up about the difference between physical movement of the product, and the trade of the product on the markets.

good luck

Femi :)
