Yesterday I was in a trade selling, I was about 10pts in loss (the spread was around 7 but moving quickly) and 20 pts from my limit order. I had moved my limit up and my stop down as I had been in the trade for long enough. Suddenly the market spiked downwards 15 pts making me 5 pts in profit. At nearly the same time my limit order was activated giving me +10pts profit.

The thing is I never saw the price on the platform at, or near the figure that my limit was set at? The charts never showed the price moving that low, including the tick chart? I assume that my order is there on level 2 and someone took the price that I was offering and it was too quick to show up?

This happens at least once per day and while i'm very pleased that it does happen I would like to know why? Any thoughts?

Pleased that it does happen!?....If it took out your STOP the same way for a 10pt loss you would be screaming highway robbery and looking for a new broker...like all those Spred bettas

I should have said, I never enter them in for this reason, they are purely mental.

Do you have any idea why this can happen?

I can only guess it happens for the reasons you mentioned. Too quick to be recorded on the chart...but I stress, I don't know for sure. It has also happened to me.

AS yu say, must just be one of those moments where the market just flips down and back up in a second.
