Hi,

I know there are many threads concerning prop firms but could anyone let me know which firms are recruiting trainees at the moment? Except TCA that is!

Cheers,
Zach.

Yeah, it's "Prop Idol" - someone gets voted out each week, or so I hear.

MOAR that a few gentlemen are taught about doing red bor spreads or whatever, taught to leg out of them for half a tick, and then a few get approved at random. Or similar. To me (usually an outright trader) this isn't trading - who he **** has a coherent view on red spreads - but it's the way they're taught...

If anyone here is ****ing impressive I can get you an interview at my prop firm. But you better be ****ing astounding.

do u mind let us know which prop firm youre trading at?

I may be being slightly dim here but what is the advantage of working at a prop firm?

alot of people ask that.

but if your good enough, the prop firm will back you. no? i.e. more money to trade, so eventually more money for onesself.

If you are a good trader, and have £5,000 yourself that you can invest, but how much can you grow that to? even if you make 200% ROI in 12 months, end result is £15,000. - thats superb

but prop firms, once they have spotted this talent can scale you up to tens of thousands, then 100,000's and then maybe one day millions.

if one fails, then he simply cannot 'cut' it.

However as with everything there are always pros and cons. some bad firms, some good firms.

They can back you to trade bigger size than you might be capitalized for. Also access to fast connections, news, low commissions, other traders to share ideas with. Plus the social aspect of being around other people rather than staying at home all day.

Is 200% ROI really that good over 12 months on a small account?

OK, guess I'll be the one to bite:

Astounding how exactly? Are we talking 5 years of highly profitable trading history, or an impressive academic/personal record? Or both? Or was this just a bit of a crow about how great your life is? Any one of the above is fine, but it's best to clarify for us mere mortals.

It takes time. About 1 year to get a good base. 2nd year you can make 6 figures.

After that its about your risk appetitie. I know one excellent trader who makes 200k to 400k every year and he just keeps his risk profile the same, because that suits him. It took him about 3 years to get to that stage and has been earning at that level for around 5 years now.

Another trader I know made 30k year 1, 80k year 2, about 200 year 3, and made over 1m 2008. Now 2008 was an extraodinary year. 2009 could be bigger or could be a loss - THATS TRADING !!

is age an issue though?

you get better split in a prop firm

if you are big trader the % could easily be 80%-95%

in a hedge fund or a bank you get a salary but the split is like 5% for yourself...
