What would you do?

Have you done or is there anything you would rather do if the pay and freedom were matched?

Online Poker? I'm making a fair chunk and it's only part time due to studying. I make a ton more than most students :D I'm not sure how much Traders make (I am just beginning to get into this...!), so I can't compare, but I imagine the freedom is just the same.

Yeah felt pretty real this morning when I dragged my rapidly ageing carcass out of bed after a crappy nights sleep. But I choose to do this so have only limited recourse I guess.

Well, if you can't trade very well you need the security of a guaranteed income ay!;)

I hear ya brother. And if you're plug ugly, no social skills and can't PROVE to a bank that you can do a job, you can always go and trade prop in your bedroom ;)

Touche

p.s. only joking - I'm sure u have great social skills mate.

I'm sure you can trade too! ;)

Ski instructor - income is next to nothing but freedom + quality of life are high. Ideally I'd combine trading with skiing and use the income to fund being a ski bum year-round.

I day dreamed about that

A chalet in France, and a chalet in New Zealand thank you very much!

But my problems with it are -

1) skiing is bloody hard work, physically very tiring.
2) skiing all year round, I'd be sun burnt to smiitherines
3) Skiing is also painful - on the knees and on the feet. Sure, you might get used to rock hard, cold ski boots feeling like they are about to make your feet drop off, but there's little you can do about the arthritis in your knees etc.

For me, i decided that skiing is altogether too complicated and stressful a process. Too much equipment needed, too dangerous, too many variables that determine whether you enjoy it or not (wind, rain, snow, sleet, high temperatures, low temperatures, goood visibility, poor visibility, uplift, downlift)...........compared to an activity that is much simpler - like, tobaganning!!

Screw France, get some proper snow out in Canada!

1) I'd like to think that's a good thing!
2) Fair point, but girls love goggle marks!
3) This is definitely the biggest worry - but a few years ago i skied with a 75 y/o CSIA level 4 instructor, he left us 18-21s in the dust, he swore by proper stretching, fish oil and glucosamine!

True. Canada does look good also, with the added potential bonus of seeing a wolf, bear or mountain lion running across the piste (y)

Had the 75yo been sking for the last 50 years though? perhaps he'd only taken it up recently?

Also, don't forget to wear a helmet when skiing or boarding! My leedom helmet is fantastic and keeps the old bonce warm.
If you think ski helmets are unnecessary - see -

Yeh he started skiing when he was 16, so many great stories...heard them all so many times :p

I was forced to wear a helmet as part of the health & safety regs when i did my course, was pretty annoyed at the time as I was used to hats. On our first day I wiped out bigtime and cracked it on a rock, been wearing one ever since!

On weekdays I would be a super - secret fighter pilot, tasked only with the hardest and most covert missions in the world, blowing the russians and chinese out of the shy, parachuting into an orphanage to teach them how to tie their shoelaces, and generally - you know - saving the world.

Then on weekends I'd start at full back for Bath, score a hat-trick and make several bone-crunching, try-saving tackles.

Strictly speaking this is a little off-topic, but Pretty Woman was on last night, and it's brilliant. Make of that what you will.

My freind is training as a pilot with the RAF, that would be awesome - no freedom at the moment, but after service, an easy job with BA and only working 18 weeks pa for £160k iirc.

Id like a job thats more hands on like a blacksmith or any form of crafting, to see a real tangible product from your work. That or boxing promotions. SOmething I love, mega money if your good and can make it work around you.

I could surely do worse than have a go at being a porn star. Oh, man!

EDIT: Though about posting a video link similar to BSD's, but then thought better of it ;)!

Yup, good idea.

Or send Hugh Hefner into deserved retirement and take over the keys to his mansion :D:D

Don't forget to invite us here though once you're settled :D
