To avoid any particular firm possibly working out how you trade? I am thinking that sb firms are out since if highly profitable then your going to be monitored. So does that leave you with da only, and is anyone going to monitor your trades at these brokers?

This is a completely serious question

Why not take a couple of Spanish's calls to add some downward moves to your equity curve? :D

I also read this somewhere. That if you get too successful, the broker will work out how you trade and do the same.

How will they work out your syetem and your parameters? They may be able to see your trade and follow it but i cannot see how they could replicate your system, thus working out how you trade.

Ha! Worry about that if and when you become successful...

In any case, why should you care if a broker copies your trades? It's actually illegal but they don't need to work out your system, just copy you.

Oh, and you almost certainly don't have such a successful system!

1) Most definitely. If you have a decent system, it should work with any broker or spreadbetter.
2) I was wondering this. If I were a broker and I noticed someone making consistent profits, I'd be getting one of my trading team to start copying his trades (after using their own professional judgement).

I beg to differ my friend

If your system is succesful - then I doubt it's going to be easy to work out. So the question is not will they work out your system - but would they copy your trades - and if they do - would you care?

No spread bet firm is going to give a crap except maybe changing their hedging strategies. A retail broker will do nothing. Goldman will front run you. A prop firm will give you bigger limits. Honestly this is irrelevant.

Hi,

I am trading it with real money.

All I am concerned about is someone figuring it out, then they would trade it and so would others I would assume and in short order your edge may or may not be gone? Is this something I don't need to worry about? The edge I have is incredible.

OK, good!

Why worry? The more people that trade your system the better. If many buy or sell when you do it can only move the market in your direction.

If you tell us your system, we'll tell you whether you should have told us or not. :D

This type of trading conspiracy theory does strike me as a bit odd for reasons mentioned here - i.e. that if people copied you, then it would move the market further in your favour. In actual fact, the only place I've ever read about people learning how you trade so they can stop it working is in the marketing pamphlets of various snake-oil systems on the market
Like all good conspiracy theories, it's better to blame the nameless, faceless 'them' than take a hard look at yourself and work out what you did wrong when your trades do start to break down. I remember Alexander Elder saying in his book how a guy he knew used to trade like magic and make loads of £$£$, but when he was up a sh*tload of cash, it would all go to his head and he would do something stupid and blow up a large portion of his account. He always came out with this excuse that it was his broker conspiring against him.
It's human I suppose - not facing up to your shortcomings.

Ultimately, if you are a successful trader, you will adapt to the market.

simple solution-trade around. have a number of DA and SB accounts and trade arbitrarily through these.

Sorry, but you are completely mad!

It's a typical beginners illusion that you have a winning system and the rest of the world is out to steal it.

It's just laughable that you are worried so much about making a profit when the reality will be that you'll probably lose money.
