I've been dabbling with trading for about 9 months now and have always spread bet with IG.
This last week I've held a couple of positions (at £2 a point) for several days and been hit what seem like much higher interest charges than usual, eg £3+ rather than 30 or 40 pence.
Also I went short on the FTSE yesterday and was hit with a £9.40 dividend payout charge!
What are the alternatives to spread betting, or which of IG's competitors might offer less prohibitive terms than these?
I have a CFD account with IG that I've never used - what would the differences be were I to use this?
