I have come across the SWB-EA over on FF.
SWB Martingale EA @ Forex Factory

Putting aside the martingale bit, does anyone know how the SWB is supposed to work?
I cant deconstruct it. It uses Stochs, Boll-bands, etc.
I cant find a pdf or description of its principles.
(I dont really want to start a thread over there, as T2W is my only trading site I frequent, but will if I have to)

has the grid element of it interested you?

yes. I WILL make grids work.
I have comes across some other screenshots which show a massive downturn when a test has completed, and its due to losing trades coming home to roost.
The lovely upcurve of equity is because the balance isnt being shown.
I think it closes out sets of trades when a certain monetary value is achieved.

I went through the inevitable grid phase years ago

The most promising technique that I developed was based on calculating the profit made over a particular time period, and then using 90% or so of that profit to close losing trades.

I could probably get a great deal more sophisticated these days, but eventually decided that the linear gains v exponential losses thing was not the way forward. I also ran into a few problems with brokers being unable to handle the large number of orders we where generating.

If you really want to make grids work you need to think more about entries based on the grid only or maybe a grid/trend bias. This EA is not a grid trader. Is a technical indicator trader that uses a grid to average down. The problem with this one is that stoch and bb is an entry that can go against you, then against you again and never ever come back. I have read a few bb/stoch scalping strategies and people swear they work but in all cases these people are using very tight stops. The idea of averaging down a system like that is suicide. As you have found.
