Ban the Burqa

Mmm, it's religious when it suits them usually. That goes for every religion whether Islam, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Atheism (if you're really atheist, go to work on the 25th December and Good Friday, you lazy ****ers).

I'm not anti-religion, per se, I'm anti-hypocrits.

I'm not sure this will happen to be honest given Canada's attitude toward personal freedoms.
However I don't think we should allow them to use shariah law for anything here. At the moment it is only used for arbitration (since 2004) but it's a slippery slope.

It could be influenced by the French who have already banned them and I know Canada has a lot of French connections.

Hmm - the irony is the very fundamentalists are the ones who think they practice the faith to the letter are the ones who are hot heads that are as far away from faith as one can imagine. They are the hypocrits.

I'm happy to celebrate all religious festivities Duvali - Yom Kipur or Ramadan. As for Christmas well I look forward to it every year. Otherwise you have long dark winter nights with not much to look forward to. Also, families and friends that don't normally get to see each other have an opportunity to visit loved ones and relatives.

As for France, they were one of the countries who took Turkey to the court of human rights for denying their citizens the right to practice their faiths when they banned extreme head scarfes in government buildings and universities. That is of course until they started experiencing the same problem and issues with extreme fundamentalism and segregation as practiced by some dorks in France.

It doesn't make one a hypocrit joining in festivities of any faith. It means spreading a bit of good soul imo. (y)

Pah. Don't call yourself an atheist if you celebrate religious festivals. If I was an atheist, I'd ignore all religious festivals rather than follow the ones which suit you (hey, isn't that the point of my original post?). Besides, isn't it a bit saddening when the only time you get together with the rest of your family is on a day you're told to or obliged to?

I am a member of a human race in all its different aspects. I do not like to segregate my self into any body of ideology including atheism.

I like to and try to see good things in all of mankind. You may think its sad but such is life. It is a positive. I'm sure everyone has their own lives to live and reasons for their actions. There are many others like giving to charity, gifts and taking time off work to be with family etc etc...

You know anarchists and punk rockers in their effort to not conform to society and rules and regulations ended up all dressing like each other and conformed to the very point they were trying to object to complying with societies expectations.

Stating "call yourself an atheist" is no different than somebody wearing a burqa stating call your self a muslim this is how the real followers dress - in tkaing their pioety to the next level. But they are all misled followers who miss the essence of the very point they want to make. It is vanity and self indulgence. No more.

A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism.

Life is but a momentary glimpse of the wonder of this astonishing universe, and it is sad to see so many dreaming it away on spiritual fantasy.

Carl Sagan

Celibacy is often an act originating in its desire to fulfil spiritual fantasy. I find your two sentences in conflict.

I think for any man or woman not to experience the joy of sexual unity in love and parenthood is a denial of ones universal existence imho.

As for spiritual fantasy - best of life is in this area. That is beyond food, clothing and shelter - anything beyond the physical survival of man kind.

What else is there left to do in life other than dream and fantasise making them become as real as posssible???

1st paragraph: it doesn't matter what you call yourself. By your actions and beliefs, you insert yourself into a section. You can't be an atheist and a Catholic.

2nd paragraph: going off on a tangent, I feel so I won't respond.

What if you can't find a lover?

Then you’re caught on the horns of an existential dilemma?

It can be a devilishly difficult problem to deal with, especially if you prefer choirboys? :)

Cheers

About time some decent muslims spoke out to ban the burqa which has nothing to do with Islam at all. (y)

Hypocritical fundamentalists who think faith comprises dressing up like cockroaches.
Here we go again... Another of your religion bashing threads. You have some serious mental issues, your either given hope on your life or cant stand the fact that Islam is growing at an unstopable rate.

F*k outa ere!!! Stupid Pr1K,,,

.....I would donate money to any charity if Jordan, Katona and Amy were to go in burqa for rest of their lives....!!

On the contrary you are the stupid dork and you should go and read your books instead of having someone interpret and lecture you on what it says.

Point out which verse of the Koran states a burqa should be worn.

Use your head not your dick to govern your life you ignorant git.

The debate between Atilla and shadow was very entertaining, illuminating and intelligent and made good reading.
And then this came along

Well based on his reply it is obvious he objects to the aricle Canadian Muslim Group Asks Harper to Ban ?Tribal Desert? Veils - Bloomberg.com

Now this article is by obviously the Muslim congress of Canada. No doubt they are sincere in their faith and have a genuine wish to improve the lives of women.

He obviously can not see that in Afghanistan and elsewhere in some country's that claim adherence to Islam all kinds of abuse takes place from under age young brides to prevention of education and even denial of medical help from male doctors.

Situation can not be defended so with his limited mental faculties he blurts out abuse displaying his incapacity to distinguish between right and wrong.

The Muslim congress of Canada are not religion bashers!!!
