Yet another complete b......lls up on it's way to cheer us up. Why can't we just give the politicos each a set of brand new plastic toys and a corner to play with them in while the rest of us just get on with our lives..meddling buffoons. Oh, we have a problem to resolve on house selling let's resolve it by creating another problem ,it's worked everywhere else in govt policy.

I agree, totally pathetic and of no use whatsoever to anyone in this industry. My guess is that we will see the following

1) Around a 30% reduction in available houses to buy. This is because many people move across town or move but dont have to. If they now face a £1000 bill just to put the house on the market they wont bother.

2) A huge increase in house selling just prior to this coming in followed by a huge drop immediately afterwards

3) It will be scrapped when it is realised that it is damaging to the industry

Paul,
I'd agree with all of that. I seriously cannot remember a more interfering govt which is bad enough ,but their rank incompetence knows no bounds.
They have no idea of the consequences for the property market although I'm sure they think they do.

When I made the first post on this topic even I had not fully appreciated the sheer level of incompetence that the govt and interest groups could bring to this issue. They exceeded even my expectations.
