I am obsessively interested in narrow subject matter; I have a passion for numbers, patterns and automated procedures; an addiction to repetitive tasks and; a lack of sensitivity to social cues. I prefer to to communicate without the ordeal of actually meeting people.

You have autism or asperger syndrome imho.

Don't give the game away Atilla. Or I'll hunt you down and make you watch your dog eat your own liver. And then I'll burn down your village. And then the villages of your friends and relatives too.

I was hoping this thread would be the candle flame of blissful destruction to which those similarly afflicted with an over-abundance of intelligence and intellect would be attracted.

In all seriousness, the poll poses an interesting question and I doubt I’m the only avid researcher of economic related data that would has come across the questions posed in the last week or so. However apparently tangential (or not) to our direct endeavours.

For those whose additionally enjoy severe paranoia please ignore your voices and be assured the the poll is completely anonymous. Only the two of you will know how the other voted.

I think quite a few people are but they don't know or have awareness.

Gordon Brown was/is not right but not sure if he knows his condition. I was told of a story where he gathered many civil servants to lunch to thank them for their support. During the lunch he talked to very few people, stared solely at his plate, ate his food and simply left.

Was he in discomfort at having to talk to strangers? Was he not used to saying thank you? Was he asked / forced to do so as political spin? People are simply very odd!

To anyone interested there is much debate ongoing in France where the science feels it fit to torture autistic children.

French autistic kids mostly get psychotherapy - Yahoo! News

Amy also said she had seen autistic children improve after being treated with a controversial therapy known as "packing." That involves wrapping nearly naked children in wet, cold towels in an attempt to "reconnect" them with their bodies. The practice is rare, but is allowed in France as part of research projects. Amy said she had seen autistic children start talking, writing and drawing after the sessions. She said it was essential to get parents' permission before trying packing.

According to the French Association of Psychiatrists, packing can sometimes produce "spectacular" results. The group said more autistic children in France could benefit from the method if authorities did not so tightly regulate its use.

Others condemn the practice as barbaric. "Not only is there no evidence that packing works, but it's unthinkable something potentially dangerous and harmful would be performed on vulnerable children," said Tony Charman, chair of autism at the Institute of Education in London.

This is very close to my heart and if I had my way I would lock up medical profession who advises this kind of treatment. Stupid effing *******s

Forcing people to conform to their expectation of what is normal. Dumb ignorant arrogant sods.

The same program of torture was prescribed by so called medical staff in the US back in the 70s. The Son-Rise program by Neil Kaufman shed much light and pioneering study towards treatment of Autism. Some stupid medical profession in France is about 30 years behind the curve.

The Son-Rise Program was originated by Barry Neil Kaufman and Samahria Lyte Kaufman in 1974 for their son, Raun, who was challenged by autism.

I better stop ranting... but worth reading the book and seeing the film if anyone is interested. (y)

I possibly need to underline that my originating post was not a personal statement of fact: I phrased it in the 1st person in order to facilitate each individual’s immediate response to it as a statement of truth/falsehood or any of those locations along that spectrum as provided in the multi-choice response.

I was (and am) keen to discover if there are many above the 50% level that are not or do not consider themselves to be situated anywhere statistically significant on the autistic/Asperger’s spectrum.

Personally, a little OCD, ADD and psychosis can go a long way if channelled appropriately…even further if you position yourself in a nice high bell tower with top-quality sight and a high-velocity sniper’s rifle.

Anyone ever been so passionate about something that they didn’t need to remember to motivate themselves about it and get what they want without realising they were sick as a dog psychologically? Apparently.

If a person does have this/these conditions not many are likely to know as diagnoses is difficult for the outsider and almost impossible for the subject. If you live with one you may get to notice strange behaviour from the norm.

Then one starts to challenge what is the norm and if what one is observing is simply and outlier.

You havent replied to my PM about voting if I have dyslexia?
Thanks, TheBarmpot.

"The concentration of these drugs in drinking water is very low – at most, they are present at levels several orders of magnitude lower than the prescription doses."

A homeopaths nightmare.

What if parents are given these as prescriptions weeks or months prior to conception?

Sometimes I think as humans we are simply developing and evolving and that's just life - constant change. We are mutating.

Will you stop posting about bloody autism and Asperger's....I'm trying to get engagement here, not a fuggin encounter group....
